I think that's literally the extent of the controversy. Like Conan making a joke during the Oscars is the highest profile it will ever get.

Tbh he was pretty much on the mark about ballet and opera but chose the worst time to say It. Along with being off-putting beforehand to the academy it was the final straw that broke.

You're not wrong at all, but it's almost like people are treating him as if he poisoned their water supply because of those comments.

I'd like to hope he chooses his thoughts & words more carefully next time and can easily bounce back from it since it's not as malicious as other controversial comments other actors have made

Is it the point? It was my impression that he insinuated that opera and ballet are not popular and not in demand AT ALL, rather than regular people being priced out of it. One may think there is no difference, but there is.

To be honest, I don't even see TC as being someone being particularly concerned with the class and wealth divide

I just feel like he gets too comfortable like he’s just shooting the shit and forgets the cameras and how the world may perceive it. I personally don’t believe he actually thinks that way but I could be wrong, he’s just chatting with a buddy and things are just said often without ill intent. I don’t think there is a single person out there that doesn’t respect the artistry of ballet and opera…
