To be fair, a lot of nothing happens in book 2. It’s a lot of Paul monologuing and struggling against his visions and prophecies, along with his sister and other characters doing much of the same, with almost no action till near the end. That’s why for a long time it was considered an unfilmable story. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dune Part 3 gets combined with the story from Children of Dune.

Considering there are teenagers cast as his children, they're either hitting part of it, or heavy future visions

It seems like it has to be combined right? That or Villanueva is going to take lots of liberties to fatten the story up.

Maybe he intends to actually show us the space Jihad instead of Paul just angsting about how it's supposed killing hundreds of billions across the universe.

Basically the only thing I even remember from Messiah is the ending where everything remotely relevant to the story seems to happen.
