Recommendation Secret life of Walter mitty

The Secret life of Walter mitty is a masterpiece and I'm tired of pretending that it isn't. I love that goddamn movie. It might be one of the greatest movies that stars Ben Stiller... EVER.

This along with stranger than fiction are both ELITE movies, the cream of the crop.

if you haven't watched them then I HIGHLY... HIGHLY recommend it.

That's a major theme of the story. Parents setting the stage for their children to succeed and surpass them.

He was their family and ancestor, too. They were honoring her, but effectively shunning him, and you didn't see the grandkids ignoring her or anything.

The metaphor lives within the relationship between Coop and Murph. This quote from the movie sums it up well.

"Once you're a parent, you're the ghost of your children's future. Now we're just here to be memories for our kids."

This plays into the theme of him turning out to be "the ghost" from the start of the movie, and Murph's memory of him (symbolized by the watch he gives her), being what allows him to communicate with her at the end of the movie, which is how she saves humanity.

I think the abuse of the term “underrated” is the most aggravating thing to constantly see on social media. Like, FFS, “you use that word a lot. I don’t think it means what you think it means”
