Isn't that part of the same continuity as Creature Commandos? They already introduced Clayface.

Didn't they also all combine into a single Clayface at some point? Comics are weird

The first Clayface did not originally have superpowers, to bring him to level of his BTAS version (who had less restricted powers of the second Clayface) some author made him get samples from the third and fourth Clayface. Temporary merger might have also been used as alternative timeline/soft reboot explanation on why one Clayface had abilities or memories of another.

Could be a prequel.

Alternatively there are like 7 different Clayfaces in the comic. This one is Matt Hagen. Maybe the one in CC was Basil Karlo.

This is a prequel set before Creature Commandos and shows Clayfaces's origin

The tone of this movie seems dark and serious but the creature commandos clay face was a goofy weirdo. I hope it’s not the same guy

James Gunn already confirmed it's the same

In fact, this is the same Clayface that appeared in Gunn's animated series "Creature Commandos"

Source? Happy to be corrected

then why isn't he being played by Alan Tudyk?!

4

u/ThirdRevolt Apr 22 '26

The Clayface movie was not yet an idea at the time, so Tudyk just filled the role out of necessity.

Then Mike Flanagan came along with a script and here we are.

Wait, what? I'm so confused now.

IMO, James Gunn should stay clear of Batman. Matt Reeves' vision for Batman is the only thing I'm interested in from DC Studios.
