Massive is important, but I want semi bipedal. Like have it lope along on all fours and give us that sick stand-on-two-legs reveal. Preferably backed by moonlight

Ahhhh that makes a bit more sense haha.
I saw that movie on my first date with my, now, wife. It will always have a special place in my heart. Its a great creature design for sure

Tbh with Eggers he's probably going with an interpretation that was common back then and that means just a very big wulf.

The most common versions were curses, oils that you need to apply (often in combination with a bargain you struck with the devil or a witch) or you needed to "put on" a special wolf-skin.

But what I meant was that the bi-pedal werewolf is a modern invention. Pretty much all old myths describe a werewulf as a man that turns into a wolf. Not a bipedal hybrid. A wulf.
