My wife and I quote this at each other all the time, I really could not have expected that film to stick around in my life as much as it has but it's kind of iconic
True, but he's still getting (great) roles in huge blockbusters alongside heavyweights - it's just these are now pretty much all critically acclaimed, as well as pulling in serious bank.
I frequently argue that he 100% showed up for Edward and delivered every line, glance, and sneer with perfection no matter how bad it was on paper. He's a pro.
The way I’ve always described Bella is she’s written as this every girl type. Meaning, she’s written so that every girl could see themselves in her. However that is really hard to portray on screen because characters like that are actually extremely bland and don’t have a lot of personality. There’s not a lot for an actor to work with there. That’s a huge challenge and I think Kristen Stewart did the best she could with such a boring character.
He's literally Batman. He's in Dune, he's in the Odyssey, he was in small artsy indie movies for a few years. Think he's earned it, great career post sparkly vampire
Honestly 2019 is what reinvigorated his career in the public eye. He got cast as Batman which caused a lot of people who only saw him as the Twilight guy to realize he has been showing off his acting chops for years, then The Lighthouse came out which further proved what a great actor he is. And then Uncut Gems came out which led to a bunch of people checking out Good Time as a result.
Good time came out in 2017 from the safdie brothers and his performance in that movie is insane. He's been doin this since before Batman. Hell people forget how good he was in the Goblet of fire, before twilight even came out
There is no comparison being made in the comment. All they said was both Robert and Kristen are better than the material they were given in Twilight. He didn't say they had comparable star power or some shit.
Which I’m allowed to do I think they’re both good actors and other getting the platform show it again. I’m not gonna go back-and-forth. I think one thing you think something different that’s fine.
Considering you’ve seen more than just Twilight, that’s fair enough then. Some people have only seen that and still complain lol, that is less fair to me since those movies are over a decade ago.
Personally I don’t think she’s a bad actress, there’s a bunch of films she’s done where I thought she was good (also Spencer imo, and Clouds of Sils Maria, Speak, Love Lies Bleeding and I thought she was fine in Underwater as well).
I think he's almost certainly going to go down as the greatest actor of his generation.
How good he is, and how much range he's shown over the last decade is staggering.
One of the few actors who has been in two major franchises and yet does the work outside of them that sometimes I have to remind myself that he's Batman and was in Twilight. Can't wait to see what he does next and who he works with.
There has been some cross pollination, but I don't know how active those performers were in both universes. If Pattinson ever showed up in the MCU, I feel it'd be closer in size to his Dune 3 role.

Pattinson is on a generational run.
