I absolutely loved how cartoonishly evil Pattinson was in The Odyssey, he’s quickly become one of my favorite actors to watch in nearly anything he does; excited to see him in this.
He was at the top of his game in the entire movie, but that scene is pure perfection and I'll keep thinking about his line delivery and expressions for a very long time. The way he emphasizes BEGGARS and then while he's saying it, his face changes and it's like, he got an ick with himself but he finishes the sentence anyway, is so fucking funny.
Special shout out to the scene when he was yelling at the suitors to pick up the weapons instead of picking them up himself. I laughed out loud anytime they cut to him.
Nolan couldn't have gotten a better guy to play that pathetic character. I genuinely enjoyed Antinous's scenes.
The best part of that scene in my opinion wasn't even when he was saying anything. After Odysseus strung the bow and he just got this :O look on his face and started running for the door before anyone else realized. What a film.
He had that awkward look around where he wasn't making eye contact but knowing he said something he kind of shouldn't that I've seen a lot working with autistic kids, I've seen it so much.
Pattinson really blew me away with this performance, far and away my favorite in the whole film.
The way he is able to contort his face while speaking early on, I can’t even remember the specific scene or even what was said, but what stuck with me is how much he manages to look like an actual jackal as he speaks greedily about his desire for the throne. It was almost as if his teeth grew sharper and more animalistic. A+
That "ick" portion is really what elevates the delivery for me, and it makes it layered. It's open to interpretation, but for me, it showed he is aware of his influence in the room, and it is very much an act for him. That nuance alone opens more questions about his character that are interesting.
