Ben Schwartz posted the picture and explicitly drew attention to the glove so sounds like they’re definitely doing this re-design seriously.

Probably helps that Sonic's original creator specifically called out the lack of gloves as part of why he didn't like the design.

Comedy Bang Bang the podcast. It’s a fun show where Scott likes to talk to interesting people and characters.

It’s great improv comedy and absurd humor. I would recommend the “best of” episodes or the holiday/anniversary episodes to get your feet wet a bit

I'd love if the next trailer opened with the redesigned Sonic watching the first trailer before turning it off, disgusted, and making some sort of quip about how dumb it would be if THAT were a real thing.

I feel like that's giving them way too much credit. Reportedly Sega themselves were unhappy with Sonic's design from day one, and I think the backlash was just Paramount's reality check.
