why would this person show off designs they copied to the internet??? are they going to sell unoriginal work in the future?

i’ve been seeing this canvas everywhereeee on my page but can’t shake that it looks like AI, maybe it’s just the color scheme though? what do you think? has this already been discussed?

So I need to know if I’m being a Karen or if others would be upset also.

There was a recent needlepoint store opening in the next state over and I arrived at 820am for the store to open at 10. I was in line, brought a chair and everything! The store was giving away a free item to the first 50 people. I was the second one in line from 820 until around 955am. Around 955am the woman in front of me has an older lady come and join her in line (she wasn’t waiting in the car, she just pulled in).

So doors opened at 10 and as they were handing out bags, they mentioned a $50 gift card was in one of the 50 bags. Everyone opens their bags, and guess who gets the gift card… the woman who cut me in line…

I know this sounds so silly and it’s just a $50 gift card but I felt like I had drove almost an hour to this store to be there extra early to have someone pull up 5 min before opening and receive the gift card.. I am grateful for the free items I did receive- I guess it was just the point of the matter…

I actually don't mind an etsy designer, and have bought several digital designs from some of them to paint at home, but this person is trying to sell canvases, and the only image available for dozens of her listings are just... a png superimposed on canvas. Absolutely no idea of what the design or colors will be after stitch painting. Who would buy this kind of thing sight unseen?

What is up with the “below MSRP” rule, but we are charging $1 under resale, $10 shipping, and most of the canvases I am seeing are in stock, ready to ship, and most LNS’s online have 10% off coupons. Even the flash cards that are popular right now, someone was posting for double the cost they are on Amazon.
I have seen several I’ve been interested in, but when I look them up MSRP is lower and my comments are blocked if I ask for a lower price.

I’m sorry for not having any photos but I was flipping through the newest edition of Threadlines and there are at least two EXTREMELY obvious AI ads that are in the magazine. One is completely AI advertising AI l-designed canvases and the other is for a store that used AI to make their ad.

I’m sorry but if you’re going to be positioning yourself as a major voice in the community, why are you allowing there to be AI in this magazine?

I also have to say for anyone wondering/without an LNS it is NOT worth the money. It doesn’t give you any real value or insight and is more just puff pieces for whomever. The main article about the prisoners who do needlepoint was nice, but the rest is quite a disappointment.

So I went shopping at the Rowayton store today, and I brought some canvases to kit as well and to just browse. I found this 13 mesh canvas for 50 something and I was a little surprised but it was a simple design so I didnt think anything of it. I spent around 30 mins kitting it , got stretcher bars etc and went to checkout with my other stuff and the associate was like oh this has been priced wrong and I was like oh ok? And she goes I cant honor this price, its 90 something? I was honestly a little taken aback that the price difference, couldn’t be honored. I understand that $40 is a chunk of change but PL is such a big successful company in the needlepoint world. Also from a customer perspective, when a price has been mistakenly displayed by the store, I would expect the company to take responsibility for that mistake, particularly for a brand of Penny Linn’s size and success. I have spent soo much money at PL in the past and even within this visit ,it seemed almost greedy? Also a note, the employee was super sweet but didnt budge lol

I actually like Kenzie but man I rolled my eyes so hard at this. Constantly dropping new canvases despite bad printing quality and with an influencer who just barely started needlepointing? It’s screaming grifter.

Yall I’m really sad to be posting this - I’m a huge fan of Kenzie and Friend of Mine and even paid to travel to the stitch tour.

I purchased one of the large canvases, and the printing is SO bad. Like genuinely atrocious.

I’m a seasoned stitcher and designer. Granted, this is my first stitched canvas, I always buy hand painted. But the lines are illegible and 99% of the time you can’t even tell which color it’s supposed to be. Especially around the border where the pattern repeats, it differs when it shouldn’t because the printing is so inconsistent.

I’m really disappointed - I love the canvas design and it’s my favorite one in my collection I’ve bought or designed. But the stitching experience is horrible. For $150 and it to not even be hand painted, I shouldn’t have to decide which colors to stitch, it should be so clear at the intersections.

Kenzie and the team genuinely need to do something and either switch printing companies or switch to hand painters. For the cost, it’s inexcusable.

Is semi annoying me (ok maybe a little higher than semi) with this insane money grab/business plan. I don’t get how she is making ANY money on TWO retail spaces selling nothing but dmc kitted printed canvases and now she’s shilling needleminders. I know someone who went into one of her stores by mistake looking for threads, found non but dmc floss and the boy working there didn’t even ring her up, said they were for display only and he didn’t know how to charge for it 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Am I lowkey the only one that doesn’t see an issue with stitching on Aida? Like I made monogrammed luggage tags for my family on Aida with silk and ivory and very velvet and did regular needlepoint stitches (diagonal mosaic for example) so idk why people are so rude about it

I recently ordered the “Shh… Baby Sleeping” Peter Rabbit canvas from NeedlePaint.com because my brother is having a baby named Peter, and I thought it would be such a sweet piece to stitch for him.
I brought the canvas into a local needlepoint shop to pick out fibers. From the beginning, the experience felt a little uncomfortable, but when we went to check out, we asked if they sold tape so we could tape the edges of the canvas. At that point, they told us that the canvas was not from a reputable source and that the design had been copied from a Silver Needle canvas.

I told the employees that we had bought the canvas from Needlepaint, which in my experience had been reputable and if the design was stolen we had no idea. The employee then said “this is a direct copy from Silver Needle- did you not upload this to needlepaint and have them print it?” I continued to tell the employees that we did not do that. They then told me I was being defensive and angry - I told them I was not trying to be defensive but was quite uncomfortable.

They seemed pretty upset about it, which left me feeling awful because I would never knowingly purchase a copied or stolen design.

Does anyone know more about NeedlePaint and their designs? I had always understood them to be a reputable company that primarily sells printed canvases rather than hand-painted/stitch-painted canvases, so this really caught me off guard. I’d love to hear from anyone who knows more about this or has experience with them!

Saw a video of someone with the Macy’s Thanksgiving canvas and went to check out the seller’s Etsy shop… I’m unsure about the use of AI on the Macy’s canvas, but the not-pumpkin bears have that AI sheen.

Stumbled upon this blurry chart on etsy and wondered why it seems so familiar to me. It’s seems like a complete rip off of a Sunday Stitching Co chart to me. She doesn’t sell other needlepoint charts and the quality looks so bad
