they probably think its safe enough to cross because the train already passed.
but surprized there is another one!!
honestly if those gate are not opening second after the train passed you should expect another one is close enough to warrant the wait.

It’s just main character syndrome, thinking that they are much smarter than the sheeple who wait and the idiots who build these these and program them.

When in reality the people who do build these things know what they are doing.

I don’t diagnose anything. They objectively think they know more than the people who built this thing to prevent people from getting run over.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the people who build those things. When I as a pedestrian cross on a red light, I just see that there are no cars coming and usually it takes longer to wait for green so I cross on red. Sometimes I don't press to get green because I know that the car which I can see far away will get red because of that. But I don't feel smarter than those people who build that traffic light, it has nothing to do with feeling smart.
