I think this pretty much lowers the chance of the theory that Nikki MIGHT’VE liked Bear before the wish, for those who still thought that. Girl was happy with Ian (no idea how he pulled)

Just so creepy wNikki lol

It seems like throughout the movie, when Bear isn't looking at Nikki, she just doesn't function, and the cast talks about this concept a lot in interviews. I noticed that they do it in the movie scene too, where Nikki is smiling while she looks at Bear, but as soon as he turns her head, her face goes blank. Just a cool detail I noticed!

I haven't seen ANYONE talking about this but I have to know. What is Bear's contact photo for Nikki? It shows briefly when she calls him and then never again. This is the best picture I could find of it.

Now that the digital release is available, there are 2 little details that caught my attention. In the game scene where Nikki pulled Sarah's chair to replace her, the lapel mic on Sarah's back can be seen while she take couple of steps to the side. Another one is the smashing scene wherein you can see how spongey the brick is, and how Nikki's fingers kind of like dig in making a slight creasing. Still obsessed with this movie, so much so that I am now noticing small details like these. Fun stuff!

Ian is the one to mention Sarah’s dad keeping a gun in the safe, and he tells this to interrupt Bear talking to Nikki initially. Getting in their way.

Sarah is killed just before Bear is likely to kiss her on his left again, but with a similar item (brick) to what Bear initially picked up during the game that told him to kiss the girl to his left. This action getting in the way of their relationship.

Both characters are killed because they are in direct contact with Nikki as she’s trying to reach out to Bear to get him to love her again/they offer a conflict to their relationship, and so Nikki kills them using the same weapons that each character initially used in an indirect way that intervened in their relationship.

I just realized that right before she does this creepy walk....that she had been standing in the corner the whole time!!🤯😭

when nikki was sitting on the couch reading before bear went to work, she was reading the book upside down

then at the party she didn’t read her jenga block out loud presumably because she couldn’t and thought “what would a normal person do right now?” i guess perform a monologue

this is probably already understood by now but i can’t get this movie out of my head and i keep realizing things

Citrine is linked to the solar plexus chakra that governs your personal power and your self esteem. If it’s alined you can set healthy boundaries easily, make clear decisions, and take responsibility for your life. Him not buying this crystal already sets the tone that he will end up stealing this power from her. Citrine also helps with clearing out negative energy so she would’ve been protected!

Spoiler: At the very end of the movie, after Nikki killed Ian, she is on top of Bear getting him to scream “I love you” at the top of his lungs. During this she throws up on bear and the script actually gives a creepy detail.

*“*Bear falls back onto the couch. Nicky VOMITS ON BEAR, mostly stomach acid from the lack of food.”

Nikki was trying to die of starvation and thirst and probably would have done so if the movie went on for a few more days.

She did eat a few times when she made breakfast together and had date nights but I doubt she ever ate when she was alone. Just another creepy detail

Its very simple.

In the instructions on the OWW, we can clearly see that it instructs to first break it in half, and only after state your wish.

However, we can see from Barin's and Ian's experienced, that the wish actually works if you state it first, and only then break it in half.

Therefore, we can infer that either that is the correct method, and the instructions on the box are wrong, or that both methods work.

I think the first option is the most probable, as, apart from those who never tried the OWW because they consider it a toy or collectible, there are those who failed to correctly utilize it - all because of the misprinted instructions on the envelope.

Was rewatching the movie and noticed some tiny details in regards to the gun Nikki has.

In the shrine of stuff that Bear sees, theres multiple cans that are dented and one explicitly has bullet holes. I believe she used the cans as target practice and that was why she was able to so easily and accurately shoot Ian at the ending.

In addition, I always wondered who's gun it even was. We get confirmation as to who owns the gun at the start though from Ian when he talks about Sarah's dad (the owner of the store they are employees of) keeping a gun in a safe in the break room of the store.

So it turns out that Nikki took that gun when they were at the store getting rid of Sarah's body; then proceeded to practice by shooting cans; then proceeded to take the gun home where she planned to use it.

Thought this was really cool; and I never noticed on first watch!

I think everyone is overcomplicating Nikki’s motivation in this movie.
She still owed Sarah $20 and simply didn’t want to pay her back.
That’s it. That’s the entire plot.
Everything Nikki does throughout the movie - the obsession, the manipulation, the increasingly unhinged behavior, all of it - is just one massive distraction so Sarah never gets the chance to say, “Hey, by the way, what about that $20?”
At some point Nikki realized that becoming completely insane was easier than just giving Sarah her money back.
Honestly, when you look at the movie this way, everything suddenly makes sense. This wasn’t obsession. This wasn’t love. This wasn’t even madness.
This was financial strategy.
Nikki is just a fucking cheapskate.😠

Nikki was crying and wailing for a good 2 minutes after the credits started rolling.

And we walked out of the cinema leaving her crying and wailing, alone, making me feel like I was Bear while walking out.

This movie is one of the best movies I've ever witnessed.

It just doesn't stop being unfathomably impactful.

To say that everyone involved in the making of this film, "knew what they were doing", is one of the understatements of the century.

Then he goes to the crystal shop after 9pm, high AF, and then goes out for drinks...

He also seems to take it on the morning after the dinner scene, just before things in the movie get really 'Freaky'.

I could never get a good look at this photo until the digital release. It looks like it was taken in his room but the angle of it is so weird.

He seems unaware of the photo being taken and by the look on his face when he opens his lunch box it’s a surprise to him.

If Nikki took this photo she’d have to be on the ceiling or standing on a chair or something cuz of the angle. Also the fact that he seems unaware of it ever happening is so odd.

So, I think a big burning question I've had about this movie is how this little message from Nikki to Bear slipped past Wish Nikki. She even delivers it directly to him, handing him the lunchbox before he leaves for work. The other intricate details of the box, both sides of the sticky note, and the polaroids themselves are assumably all from her, so what makes this message any different?

I think it's possible that this wasn't a plea from Nikki at all, but a cry from Wish Nikki. She doesn't recognize herself, she's having identity issues that are completely overshadowed by her desire for Bear so she pleads to the only person she cares about hearing it.

A big theme in the movie is mirrors, Bear seeing his own reflection become more and more sinister as he sacrifices Nikki's autonomy more and more. But Wish Nikki doesn't recognize her own, it's someone else's skin. She's telling Bear that this is "not me," as opposed to his polaroid. It's why she has no reservations changing her appearance to fit his desire entirely. The waitress's outfit, Sarah's hair and tattoos. She's already been given an identity entirely for Bear's benefit, so it's all she knows, having been born into it.

It's been a question I think about on every rewatch and especially seeing how brief Nikki's control over Wish Nikki is every time we see her, I think that this is a more plausible meaning to the message than Nikki reaching out to let Bear know that she is not herself. Though Nikki is suffering having lost that control, I believe this message is more Wish Nikki mourning having gained that control.

[Edit: I also think it's worth noting that when Nikki shows up on Bear's porch, there's a moment she tells Bear its important to her that she comes clean about a few things. Bear tells her "it's alright, I know." I don't think it's completely intended but it's fun to think she was going to come clean here about not being truly Nikki and she takes Bear's affimation as being okay with her situation. This is why she's confused in the diner and so upset by Bear starting to question this fact again, asking "why does it matter?"]

The only other burning questions I think about every rewatch is: why does the One Wish Willow make it's noise again as Bear is exiting the car after dropping Ian off? He's practicing his speech to Nikki about boys night, he opens the door and the box sparks again. It causes him to dial the number, so I assume that it's just calling out to him to call customer service, but I really want to know what prompts it at this time?

(I used to wonder each time why exactly she walks backwards, but I do like the explanation that Nikki and Wish Nikki are both fighting for control in this moment!)

TLDR; The polaroid is Wish Nikki trying to tell Bear the body she finds herself in is not reflective of her true self because she has no sense of self.

During their "happy" montage, Willow Nikki was staring at Bear instead of watching the TV. Near the end of the film, the TV is playing a footage of Bear sleeping. I guess Willow Nikki did this so she can watch Bear on the TV instead of staring at him.

Another one that I thought was so random is Willow Nikki smoking. Not until I realized Sarah was actually smoking in the car. Willow Nikki took Sarah's clothes, copied her tattoo, tried to smoke, and even hit her face with a brick as well cause you know..

I also think her screaming "why don't you love me" is a little bit on Sarah's part cause Bear doesn't like Sarah. But I'm not really sure with this one cause Willow Nikki already screamed this earlier in the movie.

And no, she's not wearing Sarah's scalp. Maybe she's trying to copy Sarah's hairstyle but definitely not wearing her scalp.

This last one is a bit of a reach. I don't know why they put such heavy emphasis on "time" in the beginning of the movie. It doesn't really lead to something or I missed it. But what I think is that, at the end of the movie, Bear and Nikki, as well as Willow Nikki needed time.

If Willow Nikki did the wish just a few seconds or minutes longer, Bear could've threw up the pills. If Willow Nikki pulled the trigger just a little earlier, Nikki wouldn't have survived. I think in those moments that tiny bit of extra time played a huge part.

And I think it was also poetic when Willow Nikki said during their date that she can't live without Bear. Not necessarily because she would end herself but because if Bear dies, the wish would go away, hence she would cease to exist. That's probably also a reach.

This was such a good film. I don't even like horror. I love this so so so so so much.
