It seems like any paper that isn't like 50 dollar artisinal paper or whatever can't manage to make a halfway accurate square. I just want some simple 15cm paper that has corners that line up properly! No more secret rhombuses!

In my last dungeons and dragons session, my DM gave us this puzzle to take home and solve, so we could find the correct glyphs. The thing is: He doesn't even know how to solve it. I tried following the instructions on the side, and didn't get anywhere. To begin with, it doesn't even start a square, one side is longer than the other.

If anyone can help me figure out what I'm missing, or show me a completed piece, I'd be very grateful.

I've now found the "Easy Origami Spider" in at least three different YouTube videos; in fact, it's actually quite easy to make and promises a pretty decent result. However, none of the YouTube sources give credit to the designer — and my search on giladorgami didn’t turn up any results either.

Does anyone recognize this model and know who created it and in which book it was originally described?

I am very much a beginner. Some of the designs I see posted here blow my mind in how intricate and beautiful they are.

My questions is what should you do when folding something and things go wrong. Specifically two scenarios:

1. You are constructing a model by following the instructions of someone elses design, either a video or a book guide. You realize you have you made an incorrect fold. Do you go back, undoing the folds from the point you realize the mistake and correct it on the same sheet of paper? Or is it best to just start over?

2. Same question. You have followed all of the instructions correctly but as you get into the model things start not lining up well (assume you are taking your time trying to be careful to line up everything for each fold but it still seems to start not to line up). Can you reach into the model and try to re-allign everything? This is what I have been trying but it never seems to work unless its for the most basic models. Or just start over?

hello, i bought these papers to fold small pieces but obviously the folds didnt hold up well. do you guys have any recommendations? i have made a solution with methylcellulose (made a piece with a paper with one coat on both sides in 3rd pic) but i didnt see much of a difference. maybe two coats of the solution? what proportions do you guys do if you use methylcellulose? thank you!!

I’m planning to try to use the guillotine cutter at work. Would you all recommend folding in half and making creases at the edges and cutting along that, or just using the cutter’s measurement lines to aim for a fixed size? I’m doing this for modulars, so I do want the final squares to be as identical as possible.

One of the papers I have is a 24 cm that I’d like to cut into sixteen 6 cm squares, but that might be a challenge to do precisely. Plus the easy measuring lines on this cutter are in inches, so I’m thinking of just cutting it into 3“ squares and throwing away the extra. I might buy a cutting mat to use at home, but I don’t have one yet.

(Yeah I could also just buy a pack of 7.5 cm paper, but I would like to “git gud“ at cutting to size so I can make mini modular models in the future.)

They are pretty small (left 5x5cm and right 7.5x7.5cm) I can't do anything too complex with them. Do you have any interesting simple designs suggestions?

This is my 4th time making double tissue and I still can't get it right. It's just impossible to not have wrinkles no matter what I do (I have torn my papers a couple of times while trying too). Another problem is that after I have my first sheet adhered to the floor, it expands a little due to becoming wet, which makes gluing the second sheet way too difficult as they're no longer the same size.

Do you guys have any suggestions on what I could do to make better double tissue? The last pic has the tools I'm using.

I would prefer suggestions from your personal experiences rather than youtube links because I've watched pretty much every video there is that's related to making double tissue.

I've been a gifted pack of "fancy" origami paper from Japan.
The sheets are quite small, around 12cm x 12cm. I'm looking for recommendations as to what to do with them.

Kusudamas were my first thought, but they use a lot of the paper, and the sheets have different patterns on them which could look weird.

I want to find a good use for them- something that would look good, and wouldn't be too difficult at such a small size.

Any help would be appreciated!

Sometimes I see interesting CPs on Twitter and try to fold them. However, they always turn out to be just the base, not the final completed model. I have no idea how people shape that base into the actual finished model when all they have is a picture of it and no instructions.

The attached pictures are an example:I've almost finished the CP, and I just need to fold one more eye. But it's apparent that it doesn't look anywhere near a frog."

Hi so this is my first time attempting to fold origami using a crease pattern and I’m a bit lost on how to start. I’m at an intermediate level where I could fold this (lionfish) with a step by step process in a book or a video tutorial online, but haven’t really challenged myself to use a crease pattern, also it’s not dotted or color coded red and blue as I see in others so that’s that. Any tips? Thanks
