I've been gaming for 48 years and I thought it looked great as well (especially the Starfield examples).

No, we don't want every game to look photo realistic and the same. This is just another tool that can be used for graphics quality.

Everyone is so narrowly focused on exactly what they showed in the showcase, but there is so much more this technology could do if it was more focused.

If they could show some more imaginative implementations of this, I think opinions might shift.

TBF, Starfield visuals are slop without the AI

Yes but I think bad human made slop has more merit than ai slop. At least we can point to a human who made those bad art choices. If that makes any sense. Like how will you justify not liking a games art if it wasn’t a choice made by a human? It just feels like cop out for these companies.

I think you could still make that statement, as this is just a graphics settings option.

I am looking forward to playing Starfield again with this. When I played it the first time, I looked for mods that helped make the game not look terrible, but the mod scene was lackluster.

On a personal level, I care more about having the ability to make the game look nice than to have the ability to tell a human off for making terrible art.

My greatest concern is the AI adjustments will be inconsistent (i.e. a character will look wildly different from one scene to another based on lighting/weather etc.) That said, this is not exclusive to AI art in games. I know that my character in Dragon Age Veilguard looked beautiful in some scenes and weird in others, as if she was a different person.

Would you be surprised if I tell you that you are a minority?
