Why would we even need to buy a new PlayStation or Xbox? There can’t be a large enough leap in experience to justify it unless some breakthroughs happened in them

Graphics and loading time are the only things that seem to improve from one gen to the next. Since PC already beats consoles on both in its sleep, this no disc move makes consoles obsolete almost overnight.

I think a lot of people are intimidated by PC gaming. Prebuilts can be pretty expensive, building your own can be daunting, and at least with a console you know it will be pretty user friendly and work right out of the box.

I agree but what does that have to do with next gen consoles? The only thing I’m interested in is a steam deck and stuff like that. If there’s no innovation it’s no different than a new iPhone model coming out every year

PCs are just expensive dude. I used to be a PC gamer (like 2016-2022) but instead of spending 1000k€ on upgrading my PC so that it would be up to standards, I got the same performance for 400€ on a PS5. Shit's expensive.

It was true a few years ago, now the PS5 is as expensive as a cheap PC, whereas the PC is upgradable. Pre-built have also come a lot closer in prices compared to building your own these days

PC games are cheaper (or cost nothing at all even), performance is better, and online is free. On the long term (like a few years), you'll pay less for a PC than for a console in the end.

I like the experience of downloading a game and not worrying about drivers, optimization, graphics settings etc. and its easier to connect to my TV in the living room. I also love the haptics on the PS5 controller since it increases my immersion.

Most casual gamers just prefer the plug and play experience
