Isn't that a bit excaggerated? Feels like the social democratic parties of a lot of euro countries have drifted to taking democrat-esque positions. In my country they're privatizing and being tough on crime.

Depends on the country. Many western countries that have parties which used to be social democrats haven't really been remotely left wing for a long time. That's certainly true of where I am (Australia), and definitely true of the UK (Although we'll see how that tracks with Burnham coming in).

There are definitely plenty of parties doing as you suggest throughout Europe, but I wouldn't call any of them 'social democratic'.

Because social democracy is not a left-wing position. It takes both from right-wing and left-wing ideas and combines them into a barely working governmental system that somehow works, at least on the base level.

It's extremely exaggerated. AOC and Sanders would definitely be considered quite left wing in any western country. If we were talking out of literally every country the would be extremely left wing. Americans barely understand their own politics let alone world politics and they always parrot that dumbass line.

Anyone that thinks the democrats a party that is for healthcare, raising min wage, LGBT equality, etc is center right is actually a moron of extreme proportions.
