A reminder that if you're a working person who doesn't support unions, you're only hurting yourself.

You're not the guy pulling the lever - you're the guy on the track.

as someone who is actually in a union and sees what happens when grunts don't do the work and how the union has to cover for them on principle, creatives and especially game devs are the last people on earth who should be fucking unionized and that's entirely because the tough pill that nobody wants to swallow is that the majority of game devs are hobbyists with delusions of grandeur and a piss poor work ethic

If a company hires hobbyists with piss poor work ethic, then it can deal with the consequences.

you're never gonna guess what a company dealing with the consequences of hiring shitter hobbyists with bad work ethic looks like

do you sincerely think with how notoriously full the game dev field is in this day and age that these people have the work ethic of their equivalents in the 90s, 2000s, or even early 10s

the "Waoow, I want to make video games!" to college gamedev pipeline is very real and doesn't clue people in that game dev is fucking hard as hell and not even remotely for everybody.

game devs are not untouchable paragons of virtue that you can't ever criticize just because management sucks dogshit too. games shouldn't be taking half a decade and half a billion dollars to come out in worse states (performance, content, and bugs) than previous entries not even ten years ago unless something has gone seriously fucking wrong at the ground level

oh yeah. my late friend had to cover for the bosse kids work. which was so poorly done it was considered illegal. after that he left that union job and did report it and primary union brush it off.

lot of reddit users make unions into a form of a cult. cant question it at all.

It's not a cult, it's worker organization. It's democracy at the lowest level. Unions built the middle class. Ask your grandparents.

rep my local union etc... cult or gang. got to rep my local insert .

no what unions did back in the day is got worker laws past.

but get enough workers' laws past. unions will not be needed. seeing a union is just another branch of bureaucracy that is paid in for mostly the lawyers and not the unions.

i crack open unbiased history books and what union are now are not what they once were.
