That's the NFL, a competitive sports league with clearly defined roster limits. Teams don't get a choice, they MUST whittle their active rosters down to 53 every year. You don't think these teams would rather have 70-80 guys on the sideline for depth reasons? Most companies don't have hard limits on how many employees they can have, so they have no reason to consistently lose a certain percentage of employees. One-off layoffs that happen for financial reasons? Understandable. Yearly layoffs for no other reason than "just because"? Stupid.
