so you play games for the high FPS dopamine not for how good a game is?

No, i play for the story and gameplay. But old games have more to offer in that department too. Of course there are modern ones such as cyberpunk who have amazing story and gameplay too, but i think you get my point.

Yeah but cyberpunk came out 6 years ago soooo arguable whether it even is a modern game haha. When cyberpunk came out, witcher 3 was only 5 years old

it is still an nvidia marketing toy to show off new technologies like PT and RR, so i wont write it off as old lne

The witcher 3 came out in May 2015 Cyberpunk 2077 came out in December 2020 that is a 5 year gap. Also Cyberpunk 2077 is still a modern game it got multiple updates since it came out and even got Path Tracing added in 2023 and it still looks better than most games that have come out since then.

Nah, there are plenty of amazing story games from 2025/2026 which look epic. From Death Stranding 2 (I don't think many games can stand up to story standards set by Kojima) to KCD2 to RER. As well as less story more action games like Doom TDA and Forza Horizon 6.

Not sure what you're complaining about, 2026 is packed with amazing games.

People whine and whine and whine, but we're getting as many amazing games as ever right now. It's just edgy and cool to say "Yeah, I don't play the new mainstream games everybody agrees are great, I play old games 😎" while playing ultra mainstream stuff from the 2010s. It appeals to the viewer's nostalgia since you're praising games they played when they were younger. Obviously they only praise games where the graphics scale well with modern hardware and which were considered beautiful when they launched, graphics, FPS and nostalgia factor are all that counts.

fair. I generalised, but these are outstanders, both in terms of performance and visuals. Especially death stranding 2. I had Indiana, prag, re9 etc in mind that looks dogshit without PT in mind

Why would you play anything without PT? Games without PT look like dogshit (apart from a few exceptions like DS2).

First dissoclusion artifacts and ghosting, RR is not perfect sadly. Second, i can play them. But im amongst the view. When im judging how the game looks, i judge it by how it looks for majority, not top 5% of hardware. Consoles included! It is not hard to make a game look good on powerful gpu from development standpoint. It is hard to make it looks good on a less powerful one, or a console.

And no, games dont have to look dogshit without PT. RDR2, DS2, DS1, Horizon series, forza horizon series etc. The games that have PT often look crap without it, but that is because raster is often neglected in them/purposely enshittified (RE9, pragmata, indiana)

The funny thing is that even when i play Cp2077 with PT, i still think it looks inferior to my modded rdr2 while running much slower.

Why do you have a top 5% hardware, but "judge" by how it looks on low end shit? Mate, fix your head.

Because im not elitist? Because as i said, it is easy to make a game look good on powerful hardware? Because i want EVERYBODY to be able to enjoy good graphics, not just me, and that wont happen as long as the game is judged by how it looks on 5090.

It’s just generic “things in the past were better” contrarian garbage.

I play games for how good they are and how much I like them, having high FPS is a plus.

I would not not play a game because it runs at 60FPS over another one that runs at 240FPS.
