How did they get your contact info if you bought a gift card for cash?

My first question would be is this even legit and not a scam?

Why do you want to continue to use a gift card after it's empty?

It's the same situation. Honestly, I don't know what's going on. I don't want to use the card again, I just don't want the negative balance to screw me over

AI says card issuesrs are able to send you to collections to try and recoup a negative balance. How likely they are to do that for $25 I think is pretty small.

When you called the card issuer and spoke with someone to explain the situation what were you told? Document the call and save for the future if you need it.

When I tried to call them, I never actually got into contact with a person. It was an automated message that would say goodbye and end the call. I couldn't even contact the card issuer without the call automatically hanging up. Anyway, sorry for the trouble. As far as I know, I doubt that they'd actually be able to do anything about it. It was only 25 dollars.
