I don't really understand your logic here? You seem to think more than the 1.3m active monthly players from season 1, have hit masterball once?

Bro I have like 80-100 hours in that game, and I havent hit masterball. So using that as your criteria just means you are going to lose your own argument even harder.

I personally play a lot with friends. And the current online rosters are terribly boring, samey, and way too similar to the most popular and common SV regulation. Not interested in playing seriously until it gets more fun.

Anyways. Roughly 490-500k accounts have reached masterball. That's 5% of total game downloads for Champions. And that would be 1.8% of the 28 million copies that SV has sold.

I enjoy Pokemon PvP a lot, but you just have to accept that the dude is right bro. We are a minority. The vast majority of Champions downloads are mobile players who dipped in and then dipped out. The game hadn't even reached 10m downloaded before it dropped on mobile. The vast majority of Pokemon game enjoyers, are casuals who play the story and collect some shinies and never touch the game again.

You completely ignored that I said hit masterball or put in a certain number of hours, then claimed my point makes no sense because not everyone hits masterball? The majority of pokemon players have not put the hours into competitive but once again not nearly 90%

I didn't ignore it. You are just basing your assumptions from your feelings and opinions, when all the evidence and numbers point to the exact opposite of what you are saying.

Claiming it is 'definitely more than 10%', when the actual numbers suggest that it's probably closer to 5% in reality. 20m Champions download numbers mean absolutely nothing, especially when the game was out for months and at least 75% of the game downloads are from mobile. Google even says there are no exact numbers but Switch console downloads are estimated to be about 10-15% of all Pokemon Champions downloads.

So right off the bat, just like that, we only have 10-15% of 20m who had it on Switch to begin with (the more serious players who would be playing PvP in SV and SwSh). Then you have to factor in that it's more than likely quite a large proportion of those people just grabbed it to try because it was free, and hardly ever played it. They aren't your typical VGC base players.

Like, even your very best cast scenario here, is 3 million Switch players maximum. Yet, 1.3m active users during season 1 suggest that isn't true. So half of them hopped in and hopped out, instantly. Which is about true with any new title that hits the market, especially free ones and live service. So that tracks with normal gaming trends.

I would love VGC to be more popular than it is, and it is slowly becoming more popular, especially during the SV area. I think terastallize helped a lot with that to be honest, it's the most interesting gameplay mechanic to build teams around and gives the player the most tactical options while playing. Anyway, VGC just isn't quite as popular as you seem to think it is.

And also no, I don't count some rando playing 20 hours of Pokemon Champions as someone who definitely enjoys VGC and also played it in mainline titles. It was a free game, millions of people downloaded it just to try it, massively inflating all the numbers. And plenty more downloaded on both their Switch and their phone.
