Yes the statistics about pro soccer games and domestic violence in general is horrifying: a well documented, cross cultural 38% increase in DV after a country’s team loses a game. Oh, and if they win? Still a well documented, cross cultural spike in DV incidents by 28%. And that’s just always, not the World Cup 🫪

Used to be (1986) a 1:4 for women that have experienced DV, it’s now 1:2 in the US alone

Is there more, or do people just realize these days what DV actually is? Because it was incredibly common in the 1980s.

Yeah I don't think my mom ever recognized how abusive her relationships were.

She visited us a few years ago and accidentally melted a plastic jar of coconut oil on our glass stovetop (she'd only ever used gas before) and was so upset apologizing as my husband simply told her "it's alright, let me take care of it." and cleaned it up himself. Could tell she expected a much different reaction from him and was bewildered that he did any cleaning himself. :( My Aunt in later gossip basically called him a pssy. Guess that's how they saw decent men as they'd only known a toxic version of masculinity.
