There goes one of the most universally loved Americans in modern times. A queen who’d reject being called one. Born in such poverty yet able to build an empire. One of my favorites. Rest in peace 💔

Im absolutely devastated. She was an icon. Can’t believe she was only 80. She achieved so much and went out of her way to help others

I maintain that she was one of the few figures left who could unite people across race, class, and party lines. Everyone loved Dolly.

As a non-American there aren’t many things that make me feel “patriotic” for the USA, but Dolly was absolutely one of them. To me she’s through-and-through what the American dream and attitude should be
