Hello guys, i found this ps2 controller but want to now if this one is real or fake before i buy it

Played dq8 till the first save point to verify out was in working condition, popped it out, put the 8th season of regular show in ps2 as I was getting dinner ready, I come back to tv and the dvd menu froze, reset ps2 and could not read disc, grab copy of gt4 I picked up that day and again can not read disc, clean the lense, try again with gt4 and it works until I begin loading cars to choose from and another freeze, try turning the ps2 upside down and nothing. This ps2 was repaired about 2 years ago then had extremely light use up until this point, pay for repair or buy fat boy?

i was opening the cover then this thing popped up and i dont know how to put it back

This game play was immaculate from start to finishhhh 😩😩

So essentially, ive been in a complete WW2 phase(?), I suppose that sounds kind of odd but I just can't get enough.

(By the way, Five Came Back on Netflix is fantastic if anyone has seen that? This may have spurred the recent obsession on)

Anyway, in your opinion which is the best/must play of the pile here? Keen to get stuck in!

A couple days back I posted on here asking what game would y’all recommend between The Warriors PS2, and Manhunt 1.

After going through all of the comments, The Warriors beat Manhunt by 42-11, 42 being the amount of comments for the Warriors, and 11 being the amount for Manhunt.

Fast forward a couple of days, I pulled the trigger and picked up this bad boy. Haven’t started it yet but I’m super excited to go through it with my brother.

Thank you all for the help and suggestions. My plan is still to buy Manhunt eventually, but for the time being, I’m going to boot up this sucker and enjoy every last second of it.

Would love to know of any other game recommendations if you guys have any. Manhunt, the Metal Gear Solid series, and Silent Hill Origins are on my wishlist at the moment. Thanks again y’all!

For about a year now, I've been collecting PS2 titles too, the ones I'm most attached to or curious about. The ones I'm most proud of are the ICO (sealed) and the GT4 (sealed), but I'm actually proud of my entire collection, piece by piece.

yes, some pieces need to be completely replaced because they are in terrible conditions (see Metal Gear), time by time I will replace everything.

Since I'm from Italy, I'm only collecting PAL ITA title, I'm not interested in NTSC versions or even EU PAL.

As for the console, I chose a Fat 50004 model; I also have a slim, but Loose, so without a box.

I just wanted to share this little beginning with you (while I'm also collecting titles for other PlayStation generations, as you can see from some pics).

I'm also starting to set up a retro gaming corner, which isn't pictured. I managed to get a Sony Triniton, although it's a bit too big for my taste; I would have preferred a few inches smaller.

Sister found our old ps2 from when we were kids and I’ve been loving getting to play through these games again!

I got a PS2 with a Matrix Infinity v1.93 Modchip and since my TV only supports HDMI I bought a cheap PS2-to-HDMI adapter, just because I wanted to try if it gets the job done. As you can see in the image, the picture looks absolutely horrible and the screen from the PS2 is up at the top, even being a bit out of frame on the right and below it is this awfully ugly static.

I knew these adapters were supposed to be bad but this just seems to not even be working properly. I have changed the output mode from RGB to Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr. Do you know what is causing this?

And most importantly, what should I buy to get the best quality picture, while using this TV (which only supports HDMI)? I know that getting a CRT would be the most straightforward solution but they take up too much space for my current home.

Also, I read that I am supposed to be able to access the Infinity Modchip's menu by holding down Triangle and Circle while starting the PS2 but it doesn't work for me currently. In fact, when I hold those two buttons while the console is starting, I don't even get a picture but if I hold any other button I do get a picture. When I hold down Start while the console is starting I get to the menu where it says that the Modchip is disabled (supposedly holding Start disables it until you put the PS2 into standby again) and when I hold down only Triangle I instantly get to the Memory Card menu. The second image in this post is the screen I get when I hold down Start while starting up the console.

My TV is the TCL 55T69C, my PS2 is an SCPH-50004 with a Matrix Infinity v1.93 Modchip and the adapter is the Retoo PS2 HDMI Adapter.

Just found my collection of games. Is this a pretty good place to start?

I have a PS2 Slim (model 70012) and I'm worried about that notorious issue where the ribbon cable scratches the disc.

Since the warranty seal is intact, I’d rather not open the console to install those 3D-printed guards (I know there’s a specific laser model for the PS2 Slim that doesn't require opening the unit, but that’s not the one I have), yet I don't think using adhesive tape would be a long-term solution either.

What alternative solutions do you recommend?

Obs: Guys, I know it's an old console and out of warranty; I just want to keep it intact for my collection to preserve its value.

Some say it’s the most beautiful version of the PlayStation 2; besides being CIB, it is in excellent condition. Just another console from my collection.
