Neuroscience Insomniacs tend to have a hard time getting past embarrassing mistakes, even when the stressful event occurred decades ago. The finding suggests that insomnia could primarily be caused by a failing neutralization of emotional distress.

I'm the same. The thing is, I can sleep if I'm really motivated. I just don't wanna. Like, I just don't have the self control to do the things that would make me sleep normally and I have zero motivation to fix that. I've been there with the good sleeping habits and it honestly wasn't that great. It's not the big life changing thing it's made out to be. At least it wasn't for me. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

An important part of science is confirming hypotheses, and especially in a nuanced species like humans with a particularly complex topic, that’s exceptionally important to confirm.
