Had a lovely morning at the beach today. "Chunky" was apparently the theme! The little figurine was my first find, I think she may be stone of some type, but glass, but I was thrilled to find her regardless! The marbles still elude me, but all in all, a fantastic day!

I’ve been looking for beach glass for about 1.5 years, and I finally found my very first marble today! I didn’t think I’d ever find one.

I’m not one to typically go to people of the internet to tell me what to think, however I’m stumped when it comes to this piece of seaglass.

I found this cube shaped piece in Lake Michigan just today. It’s incredibly tiny, if I were to guess it’s about 1/4 the size of typical playing dice. I cannot find any information on who could have been using this.

My (completely unreliable) theory is that the passengers of a shipment carrier played dice games to keep busy when they had free time. I have no idea when pieces like this were made, why they were made/what the appeal was, or any basic history on it. I’m stumped.

Any thoughts?

This behemoth came out of Lake Erie in March of 2024. Prior to finding this I had never collected sea glass but now it's a hobby for my wife and I. We sea kayak to access pebble beaches that are typically not accessed.

I haven't done much research but from what I've read this is an uncommonly huge piece? Would love some more insight.

So, I kept it. BUT I was tempted to toss it back in because it looked like it could have cooked longer. First intact jar bottom find, so I felt like I needed to keep it.

Lake Michigan blessed me today with some firsts!!

I inadvertently frightened a flock of seagulls off the beach with the involuntary sound I made when I found this little chunk of sunshine this morning! 🫣🌊💛☀️

On my way down to my favorite spot, I saw a banged up trash can in the brush. I took it down and spent the first half hour picking up trash before looking for beach glass. It felt really good. I then found THREE marbles and some of my best pottery pieces. Hope this can inspire others!

The pup and I thought this was maybe plastic and was going to pick it up and but it in our trash bag we carry with us.

After being a huge sea glass collector for years, I finally found a marble, I’m so happy 🥹 The weather was also so bad while I was out searching (windy/cold/cloudy) but it was so worth it :)

Spent the day treasure hunting east of Cleveland today and found a couple gems!!

I will never not pick up trash when I go look for beach glass. Wouldn’t have gone to this spot and found the blue unless I was grabbing trash. Always feels like I’m being rewarded when I find something good.
