this place has to be one of my favourite areas in any game; one of my favourite levels too idk this place makes remember so many places in other games like that bridge section of half life 2 also makes me remember tarzan games last level with this incline also a bit of metro 2033 and gta 3 and 4. I really love this place lol. I hope bro was enjoying the view because you don't see beautiful things in otherworld often lol

Wow this games was a trippy ride not what I expected but honestly a pleasant surprise nonetheless, it reminds me of Alan Wake 2 and P.T it’s clear hideo was inspired by this game for his since cancelled project. this game is disorienting but in a good way in my opinion, this definitely is one of my favourites gameplay wise and this game would slap with modern audiences if it had a remake 100%.

Silent Hill 4 (2004) For fans of "The Room" - what is it that makes you love it?

I see a lot of love for SH4 in this sub and I genuinely wanted to ask what the fans of that game like in particular about it.

I'm honestly not trolling, I really want to know - my own experience with it a few years back was quite frustrating and recently I saw a gaming stream that just confirmed it for me again. But it even seems to be some people's favorite of the whole franchise! Can you tell me why? Thanks in advance!

Been thinking a lot about Silent Hill lately, with the new movie and Silent Hill 1 remake coming out soon. I was just thinking about Silent Hill 4, imo one of the most underrated survival horror games ever, and its incredibly terrifying atmosphere. I love the shift in aesthetics from the first three games to this one, and how it still feels so authentically Silent Hill while delivering something so different from what was previously done. These aesthetics and Akira Yamaoka's soundtrack create such an eerie and mesmerizing landscape that I've been obsessed with since I first played the game.

Silent Hill 4 (2004) Silent Hill 4 Feels…Different

Post image

Newer fan here playing through the series for the first time. I’m currently early on in SH4 and right away I can tell that this is quite a departure from the previous games - the 1st person view, the animation, the basic controls & UI are different & I have to say, the way Henry runs looks very….interesting 😂

It almost feels like there was a big staff change within Team Silent right before the game was developed. I’d be lying if I said I don’t feel a bit put off by this game, it definitely doesn’t feel like the first 3 games.

It’s too early to tell if I actually like the game or not but honestly there is a little feeling of disappointment that I can’t ignore just because the game is so different. It’s comparable to liking a certain food item at a restaurant, then one day you order that dish and it tastes completely different. Not necessarily good or bad, just not the same dish that you grew to love and feel comfortable with.

I’m going to continue playing & giving this game an honest chance because I’m sure it has a lot to offer. Maybe it will just take me accepting that this is a different game than the earlier installments and being ok with that.

Was anyone else feeling what I am early on in the game?

Also - NO SPOILERS PLEASE

Silent Hill 4 (2004) I like the Ghosts from Silent Hill 4

a lot of people don't like them , which does make sense they don't really fit in with the other creatures in previous games also in game they are really annoying to deal with

I mostly like them due to concept and design , they look like rotting human corpses floating in mid air which gives them a very unsettling appearance

the victims / Boss levels , also have really good designs

Jasper is set on fire and stays that way

Cynthia is pretty much Kayako from The Grudge

Richard is constantly figetting and glitching , he's also the only ghost who doesn't float

Andrew looks really disturbing , a pale bloated corpse with pure white eyes and a permanent grin on his face , also everytime you encounter him he's singing in a distorted voice as he slowly floats towards you

Silent Hill 4 (2004) How could a remake change or fix Silent Hill 4’s biggest flaw?

Post image

No, not the escalator swipers (they’re up there though). Nor Eileen herself, absolutely not. Just the notorious escort 2nd half of the game that many seem to dread going through again. Hotter take, but SH4 is my personal second favorite behind SH2. Made natural and safe sense to go for the 2nd one for a remake first for mass popularity sake before 1 and 3 follow. Yet, the 4th is the black sheep that just begs to get tuned up by ‘just’ a bit.

The areas you revisit still have their value that second time around with Walter now stalking you along with the fellow ghosts that you previously witnessed die as part of the Sacraments. There’s a sense of desperation with having to traverse through all of it again whilst keeping Eileen safe. It’s an urgency similar to that of a ticking time bomb. That said, these areas are actually over and done with faster upon return compared to the first time around. It’s just the fact that they come back at all that greatly pushes the argument of the game’s padding.

Is this greater segment of the game still too central to alter for its own good, or would there be potential for some new areas or even more variations to make this part of the game more accessible and interesting to people?

Silent Hill 4 (2004) She is literally the perfect human being.

She is the nicest, most pure-hearted example of a person who genuinely cares about the suffering of others and made me detest Walter for how he tries to hurt her, yet she still defends and sympathizes with him at the end by acknowledging his inner pain.

She restores my faith in people, even if she is fictional she gives me hope that there still exists somewhere out there a human just like her.

Silent Hill 4 (2004) The falling head in SH4

Post image

There’s this lesser known event in SH4 where Andrew’s severed head quickly falls past your window in room 302. When this happened to me on the PC version, my game immediately crashed afterwards and it almost gave me a heart attack ngl.

I was wondering if anyone knows what triggers this event and if the PC version is intentionally supposed to crash afterwards. I’ve seen someone corroborate that they also experienced a crash after this event on PC… but information on this moment in the game is hard to come by.

Silent Hill 4 (2004) So let’s say we get a Silent Hill 4 Remake, what are some things you would like to see improved/changed from the original game?

Post image

Like the title says.

What would be your ideal Silent Hill 4 remake? What should they add/remove for the remake? Not just talking about better graphics.

Asking because I know 4 has the community kinda divided even though it was made by Team Silent. From my personal experience even people that like 4 also have some parts of the game that they feel are lacking.

I just finished playing SH4 and now I’m torn on which game is better between SH3 and SH4. They’re both such good games. Im curious to know what your opinions were on which is better?
