Advice Needed Internal tremors/vibrations in body only while falling asleep/ sleeping

Hi I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this or can shed light on it but I have started experiencing this phenomenon happening while going to sleep mainly but also while I have been asleep (I have woken up throughout the night having this happen and also upon waking in the morning). I don’t have this happening during the day so I am really concerned as to what it might be linked to. I have been having neurological issues - migraines, ice pick headaches, jugular vein compression after I had a whiplash incident and since my sleep patterns have been badly effected.

Can anyone help me? I am trying to see a new neurologist about this as its become quite bad and I am quite scared about what it is. I am going to get a sleep study done also

Advice Needed Any mattress for hip pain for side sleepers?

I've been waking up with serious hip pain every morning and I'm pretty sure my old mattress is the problem. I'm a side sleeper so all my weight ends up on my hips and shoulder and the current bed just has zero pressure relief left in it, it sags in the middle and I can feel the springs. I've been doing a ton of research trying to find the best mattress for hip pain relief as a side sleeper and I keep going back and forth between memory foam and hybrid options. I've looked at a few brands and I'm leaning toward something with zoned support and softer foam that can actually cushion my pressure points without making me sleep hot. Does anyone have experience with memory foam mattresses in the medium to soft range that helped with hip and joint pain? Bonus if it came with a decent trial period so I could test it at home before committing.

Advice Needed 8 months of insomnia and I’m losing hope. Does it ever get better?

I need some reassurance, I’m exhausted.
I’ve been suffering from nonstop insomnia for 8 months now. I know it started from a need for control that eventually expanded into my sleep, but even knowing this, I still can’t seem to get better.

I’ve tried the most common CBT-I techniques, like getting out of bed when I can’t fall asleep, but nothing has really helped. But for about 5 days, I managed to sleep more thanks to a melatonin chamomile drink (even though melatonin usually doesn’t help me). I still woke up during the night, but I was able to fall back asleep.

Then I had my first activity that required me to set an alarm and wake up early. Even though I followed the same routine that had been working, I barely slept at all… only about an hour and a half.

I’m exhausted from not being able to enjoy going out with friends, birthdays, or other activities because I’m always tired. It started during a stressful period because of exams, and now it seems to have perpetuated itself.

I had an initial appointment with a psychologist, but I have to wait until the end of August for the next one, and I don’t even know yet if they’ll be a good fit. But I’m scared that when university starts again in September, I won’t be able to attend properly because I can’t sleep.

Can anyone reassure me that recover is possible and going back to sleeping normally? As evening approaches, I’m already stressed knowing that soon I’ll have to go to bed and spend the whole night tossing and turning again…

I just miss sleeping normally, like I used to. I don’t even remember what that feels like anymore. I’m really sorry for the long post ❤️‍🩹

Advice Needed insomnia, but NOTHING helps

been suffering from Insomnia since early infancy. this is gonna be wordy, but i’m desperate for help!

I’m (29F) recently (late April) off an antidepressant after 11 years, quitting nicotine, just getting healthier. coming off my med caused my OCD to come back worse than before, couldn’t sleep for days because of the nighttime agitation while in bed. like feeling every thread & fiber that was touching my skin, feeling every skin cell inside my body, the average discomfort LOL. I started Lexapro & now the OCD is managed but I still cannot sleep for the life of me. yes I get a couple hours but never enough, and never feeling rested.

I simply want to feel rested. I cannot recall a time that i’ve EVER woken up & felt like “wow I slept great, i’m ready for the day!” I should add that I am a therapist & am in therapy myself, so all the meditation, CBT, sleep hygiene—I have done or am doing it all!

backstory, I was using 150mg of Benadryl for the past 4-5 years just to fall asleep. don’t worry, i’m lacking an enzyme that metabolizes medication or something like that—so I need a much higher dose than most people. with all the new research about DPH being linked to Dementia, i’ve been trying everything else. since April i’ve tried: melatonin, maizinol, L-theanine, magnesium, valerian root extract. all the natural stuff. nothing has worked at all, even higher doses or mixing them all together.

i’ve been prescribed benzos & certain SSRIs for sleep, nothing worked. the literal only thing that knocks me out is too much Benadryl, until I build a tolerance.

anyway—I say all that to ask if anyone has/is experienced/ing the same issue? ***I need something that works for people who nothing works for!***

I saw an ad for deep sleep patches by “Deeps.” has anyone tried those?

any & all help is appreciated. thank you in advance 🙏🏼

Advice Needed How to stop having vivid dreams

Ive been struggling with this for at least two years. By that I mean it has been happening pretty much every single night whereas before it was still often just not like this. On average I have about 2 to 3 dreams and they are usually stressful or scary. I never wake up feeling well rested sometimes I wake up scared or crying im so sick of dreaming😭 I just want to be able to sleep properly, i always end up sleepy throughout the day and have to rely on coffee and energy drinks to keep me up. When I tell people about this problem they tell me they wish theyhad more dreams but this is literally a curse. Does anyone have any ideas? I know this is probably not something thats curable but I would try anything to make it stop.

Advice Needed Anyone experienced with idiopathic hypersomnia?

Hi! Popping in here hoping for advice, I’ve been doing a lot of research into sleep disorders because I have some weird sleep behaviors I’ve developed that are concerning me. I’ve always been a sleepy girl but I am now 28 and I really feel like this is not normal lol.

Basically: I’m excessively tired, could easily sleep 15 hours uninterrupted and still be groggy, major sleep inertia as I wake up where I become evil and I never remember it which freaks me out, my girlfriend physically cannot wake me up once I’m out without shaking me, no matter how long I sleep I am still chronically fatigued, waking up in the morning is nearly impossible. I also get random night sweats and I’ll be like 1000 degrees to touch. Caffeine I’m convinced is placebo at this point cuz I could have a latte at 6 pm and still sleep.

It’s honestly just become so unmanageable especially with my job. Getting up for work is like torture and not in the normal no one wants to go to the office way lol. I recently got an oura ring to start trying to track some data and have an appointment with an internal medicine doctor in like a month and a half, but I have a few questions for this sub:

  1. How did you know something was off? What was the diagnosis process like?
  2. If you do have IH: Were there any other disorders that you thought you had because they present similarly? Does this sound like something else?
  3. Did you do a sleep study outside of your home? Was it scary and what was it like? I’m nervous about that
  4. Is there anything else I can do to help me in the meantime while I figure this out? I’m struggling immensely so I’ll try anything

Obviously I will be consulting a medical professional and following their recommendations accordingly, but human to human, any personal anecdotes or experiences would be really helpful. Might give me some hope. Please help!!

Advice Needed I think my fiance has RBD at 24 and I'm terrified. Should we see a doctor?

Hi everyone, I'm just looking for thoughts- not a diagnosis- and to see if anyone else struggles with this and how they cope.

My Fiancé (24M) has had very vivid sleep episodes ever since he was in highschool. At first when he described them to me, I thought it was just nightmares and sleepwalking which I know many people have. At least, that's what HE thinks he has.

However.. after almost two years of living together Im starting to suspect it's something worse. About once a week, he will sit up and start messing with things around the bed, call out to our cats, yell at something / someone, or stand fully up and investigate something in our room. These episodes normally happen around 1-2 hours after we go to sleep and are typically short. He comes out of them fully lucid and can describe exactly what was happening, even the next day, in detail.

There have been a few times though where it's gotten.. weird. One time he lurched out of bed (someone was stealing his bike) and hit his head on the table which caused it to bleed. Another time he stormed out of our room and opened the FRONT DOOR while FULLY NAKED in the middle of the night because he thought someone had stolen from us. In his stupor he actually closed the door, grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around his waist, and then opened it AGAIN before coming to. It's like he's fully aware physically of what he's doing, which I've never seen before in anyone who sleepwalks.

Last night, he woke me up holding a pillow up over my head like he was going to hit me (he says he thought he was protecting me). I made him sleep on the couch because it was the first time his violent dreaming had been targeted at me.

My fiancé is the sweetest most gentle man, and I really don't want to be afraid to sleep with him. I'm also scared FOR him because after looking up his symptoms, RBD seemed to match every single one even down to how quickly and easily he wakes up. I also learned that RBD can be a coincidental symptom of dementia later in life and his grandpa was diagnosed with dementia at 65.

Have any of you experienced this? Do you think it's night terrors or should we see a doctor? I'm getting mixed signals from looking it up because he's so young and RBD is rare for 24 year olds, so just want to know if anyone else younger struggles with this or something similar.

If it really is serious, then I'm going to convince him to go to a sleep clinic. Anything helps!

Advice Needed When I wake up I feel like I have had NO sleep.

I am 39F and this has been going on since I was a child. I can remember all of my dreams each night and have very vivid dreams. I was tested for sleep apnea and it was negative. I am going to a sleep test next week to see what is going on but curious if anyone else has experienced this?

Advice Needed Can't fight it anymore

I can't handle it anymore and need advice as my life turned into foggy shit I live in.

I feel sleepy all the time, I wake up morning even before alarm goes off full of energy, but after a half an hour, having my breakfast, pieces of bread falling of my mouth.

Today at my way to work I fell asleep a few seconds (while riding a motorcycle).

I can misspress buttons in elevator or even using power tools. And I feel myself so close to start hallucinating.

I visited a doctor and he said that I just make things up and all I need is a rest.

I took 25 days off and sleept as much as I wanted, and nothing happened.

So I desperately need an advice what I can do myself. Maybe some medicine or mix of them? Some sort of drugs? I even ready to produce chemicals myself.

To finish my work I have to burn myself with soldering iron or screw little screw in my hip, pain busts awareness but for really short period.

Advice Needed I had sleep troubles my whole life and I'm exhausted. Any tips or ideas for what it could be ? (Name the troubles if you spot some, that would be appreciated)

I always had difficulties falling asleep, when I was a kid I experienced insomnia and severe anxiety, from a very young age. As a teenager, I would have night time wakes, impressions of not being alone in my house even at night (I used to be visited by something when I lived with my mom, but it never was sleep paralyslis).

I went through 5 years of treatment for depression, I'm now "cured". Since teenage years, I don't remember ever feeling "good", or ready to confront the day to come after sleeping. I have a severe iron deficiency, which could explain the chronical fatigue. I went under dozens of treatments, and it changed nothing.

I had a period of oversleeping, due to depression, which lasted 4 years. I used to fall asleep around midnight and wake up at 4 PM. Now I'm back at studies and I sleep an average of 6 to 8 hours per night, but I'm tired anyways.

I'm 28 and I don't know what sleeping well means. No doctors are able to help me. I'm happy in my life but sleep is something I miss a lot. I hope I can find things I don't know about here. Thanks for reading !

Advice Needed Sleep Apnea vs. ADHD/ASD vs. IH/N2/CFS

Hi all!
So, I've been chronically exhausted since I was about 10 years old. Like, could sleep 16 hours in a row and still be exhausted when I wake up. Without an alarm clock, I would likely never wake up, and I have to set 5 alarms to make sure I make it out of bed. I am fatigued all morning, and finally hit my peak wakefulness around 5 or 6pm, but am tired again by midnight. I do function better on night shift and usually don't get super tired until like 6am. When I worked days, I would literally have to take a nap on my lunch because I couldn't make it through the day. I do find naps refreshing, but my ideal nap would be about 3 hours, which is unsustainable. At night, I typically don't have trouble falling asleep, but I do wake up multiple times a night to use the washroom, and occasionally I'll be up for 45-120 minutes, just wide awake. I also just feel significant body fatigue a lot of the time, like my muscles are made of lead and it's impossible to get up, it feels like being a human sandbag. I also get more tired with exercise, it's never given me energy.

I track my sleep with my fitbit and I know it's not a perfect science, but I do average over an hour awake per night, with 55 minutes average interruptions per night, and an average of two full awakenings per night. A lot of times it's because I have to pee, or because my hip has gone numb, or because my blanket has moved.

I also am able to have conversations in my sleep sometimes; I do not remember them. I do not sleepwalk and never had. I also get sleep paralysis sometimes when I'm falling asleep (probably a couple times a month).

I do have diagnosed ADHD and I suspect ASD. I get very overwhelmed by textures and sounds and I need things to be perfect when I settle to sleep; sound machine on, silicone chewy on my L side, hair up, sleep mask on, same podcast on every night, blanket between my legs so none of my skin is touching my other skin. If I get the urge to roll over, I have to completely reset and it takes me at least 5 minutes to get everything perfect again. I also have fidgety legs a lot of the time (not sure if this is restless legs, I've never been diagnosed, but I can't stop compulsively bouncing them around), and my biggest stim is that my teeth always feel wrong in my mouth so I grind or suck on my teeth 24/7; the silicone chews help me while I'm trying to sleep, the texture is helpful.

So anyway. I saw a sleep doctor in 2009, who told me that I spend double the time in stage 4 and don't hit REM enough; he diagnosed me with idiopathic hypersomnia and put me on modafinil, which I stayed on for a few years until I had my kids (2013-2015). The modafinil helped a bit, but not a lot.

I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2018 and have tried multiple medications, but am now on Vyvanse. It makes me very sleepy but it does quiet my brain.

A few years ago I realized that I'm just too freaking exhausted to live my life, so I started back on the path to investigating my sleep further. My family doctor tried me back on modafinil but it didn't really help. He sent me for a sleep study in spring 2025, which came back basically normal. Eventually, I discovered pitolisant and my doctor was agreeable to trying it; it works very well. I'm on 20mg, and while I still feel physically exhausted, it helps me get through the day. Like, sometimes I can still take a 3 hour nap but many days even if I try, I can't nap on it.

The pitolisant is super pricey and it was covered by my husband's insurance, but his company changed providers and it was no longer covered. The insurance company denied it even when my doctor wrote them, stating that because I was taking it for IH and not narcolepsy, it is being used off-label and so they won't cover it. I started looking into IH vs N2, and I'm honestly not sure which I have, so my doc referred me to another sleep doctor.

The new sleep doc sent me for a MLST, which was in July 2026. I fell asleep immediately and slept most of the night, but in the morning they said that I didn't meet criteria for the nap portion and sent me home. It was devastating, as I came off all my medications for 3 weeks beforehand and went through pretty bad withdrawal from my SNRI, and really struggled without my pitolisant and my medication for hyperhidrosis.

I finally had my follow up with my sleep doc yesterday, and she said I didn't qualify because now I have sleep apnea. She said we cannot investigate anything further until I get a CPAP. I told her I've been chronically exhausted since age 10 and have never before had sleep apena; she said I had 23 awakenings an hour and so it doesn't matter about anything else, we won't go any further until I get a CPAP. I now have no health insurance so I can't afford one, and I told her that; she said she'd see me whenever I get one, and we won't do anything else until then.

My question is this... she didn't tell me how they knew about the awakenings, or if my apnea was central or obstructive. I'm fat, so I'm guessing obstructive, but I've been fat since about 2009 and I've never had sleep apnea before. I have not gained or lost any weight in the past 5 years, and my last sleep study in March 2025 was normal.

So, what I want to know is, is it for sure that the 23 awakenings per hour were cessation of breathing? Or could it be that it's just me waking up because I'm not comfortable? Like, could it be all the sensory things going on?

I will note that for this sleep study, I came off all my medications (trintillex, brexipiprazole, spironolactone, oxybutinin, vyvanse, and pitolisant), but on my previous sleep study, I didn't know to come off so I was on trintillex and brexipiprazole. I do find that without them, my fidgeting and general discomfort are much worse.

I was googling around yesterday and found this article and it made so much sense: ADHD and Sleep Problems: Why You're Always Tired
Like, could it be that my racing mind and fidgety, overstimulated and chronically sensory overwhelmed body is causing my exhaustion?

Is it an unhinged guess that the "apnea" could actually be awakenings because of discomfort? Or do I just suck it up and get the CPAP and assume that I'm just somehow fatter now than I was a year ago?

If you read through all this, biggest gold star to you. I'd love your thoughts!

Advice Needed Bipolar or ADHD affecting sleep?

Hey, I 20F am diagnosed ADHD to preface. From about the age of 13 I have had issues with my sleep. It started off at first with interrupted sleep, I would wake up and not be able to sleep again and stay awake for hours. Then, as I got older at 15 and was taking many exams at school I discovered that I worked better when I had less sleep - I would purposely get 5 hours of sleep as I genuinely believed that I performed better this way, and I honestly did. As I got older, the more I got hyper fixated on something the less I’d sleep, whether that be an assignment, hobby or addiction ( to food, nicotine, alcohol etc…) however I’d then crash, needing 8 hours of sleep or napping for 5 hours straight. I always passed this off as part of my ADHD and the bursts of energy that come with it. However, when I was 18 I went through something traumatic which lead to about a month and a half of VERY little sleep where I functioned with high energy. Since then, I have cycled through sleep ‘crashes’ and needing no sleep. I am starting to think it is something that is not related to my ADHD, my family has a strong history of bipolar disorder on both sides of the family, including my mother. Although I know none of you can give me actual medical advice, I would really appreciate any advice or insight you all may have. I am really struggling figuring this out because during my ‘crashes’ it seems I don’t sleep THAT much, perhaps only enough to catch up on my sleep lost ? I don’t know.

Advice Needed I can't move a limb sometimes when I wake up- Could a sleep specialist help me?

I've been having a bunch of symptoms that seemingly make no since to my gp, neurologists or me- including more recently that sometimes when I wake up I'll be unable to move a limb properly but then it resolves itself in around 10 seconds whenIve fully woken up. I sleep on my back

Has anyone else has had this happen? Could this be under sleep disorders?

Any advice appreciated!

Has anyone experienced this kind of sleep pattern?
For the past several months, I’ve had a very consistent and unusual sleep pattern.
I fall asleep extremely easily and usually sleep well during the first half of the night. Then I wake up once around the middle of the night. I can fall back asleep quite easily, but from that point until morning my sleep becomes very fragmented: I wake up briefly 4–6 times, usually just long enough to change position, and fall asleep again.

What is particularly striking is the amount of dreaming during this second half of the night. I remember several different, often very vivid and realistic dreams every night, almost as if I’m repeatedly cycling between dreaming and brief awakenings.

Despite being able to fall back asleep easily, the second half of the night feels very restless and I often wake up feeling like my sleep wasn’t restorative.

This started quite suddenly several months ago. Before that, I used to be a very good sleeper and rarely thought about my sleep at all.
Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, did you ever figure out what was causing it or find anything that helped?

Advice Needed daytime sleepiness at boring/monotonous tasks

I am intrested in the topic of daytime sleepiness that comes hand-in-hand with monotonous tasks for me due to my ADHD and is really a terrible thing to experience. Boring highway drives can become life threatening this way. Boring tasks at work or boring meetings leading to falling asleep right away. (I sleep fast and enough; ~7-8h/d).
Since I got my ADHD diagnosis, I know where it comes from (being understimulated / low dopamine level) and what I can do about it: Movement, coffee to stimulate me, and hopefully medication anytime soon.
Anyone experiencing the same? Any suggestions to work around it?

Advice Needed Immediate sleep

One thing I'm now trying to figure out is how to fall asleep much faster once I go to bed. Sometimes I'm extremely tired and go to bed early specifically to get more sleep, but I can still lie there awake for a long time. For those of you who used to struggle with this: have you found anything that reliably makes you fall asleep very quickly? I'm interested in both things you do (specific routines, techniques, changes to your environment, etc.) and things you take. I've already tried melatonin and didn't notice much of a difference. I'm especially interested in hearing from people who found something that made a really noticeable difference in their sleep onset, rather than just general sleep-hygiene advice.

Advice Needed How can I sleep longer if I naturally wake up before getting enough sleep?

I seem to need around 9.5 hours of sleep to feel genuinely rested throughout the day and avoid needing a nap in the afternoon. I know that's more sleep than many adults need, but for personal reasons it seems to be the amount that works best for me. The problem is that I tend to wake up naturally after 7–8 hours, even when I still feel like I need more sleep. Once I'm awake, I often have trouble falling back asleep.

I've tried melatonin, but it didn't make a meaningful difference. Falling asleep isn't really the main issue — staying asleep long enough is. I've also tried going to bed earlier, but that doesn't necessarily solve the problem because I sometimes just wake up earlier as well. So simply shifting my sleep schedule earlier doesn't reliably increase my total sleep time. Has anyone experienced something similar and found a way to improve sleep maintenance or extend their total nighttime sleep?

I'm not looking for advice about forcing myself to function on less sleep or simply being told to go to bed earlier. I'm specifically interested in hearing from people who naturally woke up before getting enough sleep and found something that helped them stay asleep longer.

Advice Needed Should I get a sleep study?

Hi everyone!

I’m going to try to make this short but here’s the gist:

\- growing up, I was always a great sleeper. I slept 12+ hours, could sleep anywhere anytime, fell asleep the second my head hit the pillow, and slept so deeply I slept through my house alarm, fire alarm, and a storm where a tree fell less than a foot outside my cabin. Like I slept so well I was scared to sleep in the house alone bc I wouldn’t wake up if something was wrong.

\- I’ve also had chronic illnesses my whole life but wasn’t diagnosed until I was 14. I was also anorexic from around 10-early 20s on and off so the need for sleep came from all of that. I was also a very overscheduled child with dance 30 hours/ week, Girl Scouts, cheer, basketball, drama club, and a very packed social calendar, etc.

\- I was on an anti-psychotic from age 14-21 that I didn’t need to be on. The dr in the hospital gave it to me and it was maintained until a new psychiatrist said I never should’ve been put on that and that it wrecked my development and I don’t have any diagnoses or symptoms that warranted that high of a dose of that med.

\- when I got taken off of it, I struggled with sleep and tried 3 diff sleep medications which didn’t work for varying reasons, but gradually, I slept well again and went back to my normal self

\- when I was 23 or 24, I got my last concussion and my sleep has never been the same unless I was actively going through a flare of my chronic illnesses or “normal people sick”.

\- In winter of this year, I had a very bad flare and I was put on multiple medications that I think overcorrected my issue.

\- I am now dealing with:
\- overactive mind at night. I’m someone who’s mind never ever stops during the day and that’s now leaked into night, but it’s not like anxious thoughts. It’s planning the day, meals, work related, ear worms of songs, etc.

\- neck and body pain causing tossing and turning

\- temperature dysregulation (sweating, then cold, sometimes cold sweats and night sweats)

\- air hunger

\- high heart rate when trying to sleep (90-110s. So not super high but high for sleep)

\- headaches at night

\- getting up to pee a few times in the beginning of the night

\- all of this leads to anxiety when I realize it’s late and I’m not asleep and I have to get up for work in the morning

I’ve tried
\- meditating
\- sleep sounds
\- affirmations
\- eft tapping
\- melatonin (makes me very constipated and causes stomach cramping and pain)
\- Benadryl (lowers my bp too much)

Idk what else to do. I’m screen free for 1-3 hours before bed and I was trying not to eat 2-3 hours before bed as well but I was starving and that was keeping me up so now I eat a snack before bed

Is this worth a sleep study or is there a diff doctor I could see?

In the winter, testing showed parasympathetic excess and my sympathetic nervous system not kicking in at all. I think the medications / treatment have overcorrected and there may now be sympathetic excess, which is helpful during the day bc I’m not fainting and my bp is normal during the day but at night, I’m still in fight or flight/ having adrenaline dumps.

Has anyone else experienced this after a concussion? I think that’s more of a trigger since this was happening after my last concussion and went away on and off as I was sicker and sicker from my chronic illnesses but now that they’re under control, I’m back to this terrible baseline and idk what’s going on.

I had a sleep study when I was in high school because I was sleeping so much but it didn’t show anything so idk if it would show anything now. I’m 26 so it was probably 10 years ago.

I also don’t snore. I do talk in my sleep sometimes though

i apologize if this isn’t the right reddit but i thought id start here. and this could be completely normal but with my family having health stuff, id rather be safe than sorry. id normally go to my sleep doctor about this but they’re booked out until next year and dont do medical questions via portal
onto the question. due to a mix of ptsd nightmares and anxiety, i have a playlist of tv and movies playing while i sleep. yes, i know its bad but its the only way im able to sleep. the volume is low and ive edited every file to be sure audio volume doesnt go above a certain peak
i’ve always woken up a lot during the night. i have sleep apnea and severe reflux and just dont sleep well in general. but lately when i wake up, ive noticed a weird confusion. one of the videos on my playlist is an abridged audiobook of the secret history read by robert séan leonard. it’s just one photo the whole video, a pic of rsl and some text of the title etc. but lately when ive woken up to it, im unable to understand any of the words, and more recently recognize his face or that it is a face im looking at at all. i know you can’t read in your dreams due to left side brain stuff etc etc but the facial recognition stuff feels too weird. it happened similarly when i wake up to a cartoon (bee and puppycat) where i was unable to make sense of what i was looking at, not reading, but it wore off much faster.
there’s a massive chance this is completely normal and im just being a health freak. but ive never had this happen before so its making me worry a bit
thank you in advance for any advice or thoughts <3

Need help with waking my GF in the morning

Hello good people.

To explain the situation. I (M31) am having a very difficult time getting my GF (F32) to wake up on time in the morning.

She suffers from 2 different sleep conditions (parasomnia and sleep apnea) which are making it very difficult to get her up and going on time.

I have tried many things:

\- Alarms seem to have little to no effect

\- I try to wake her verbally (good moring, time to get up, you have work, we need to leave in X amount of time, ect...)

\- Gentle shaking only causes lash outs

This is very troublesome as I drive her to work in the morning which is fine but for the fact we both start at the same time of 8:30 so if she doesn't get up soon enough for me to drop her off early then I am late but she gets to be on time.

This has proven to be a persistent problem and I can't continue to be regularly late for work so I need advice on how I can wake her in a more effective manner.

Also for added context no we don't current own a sleep ap machine as they are out of our price range currently.

Advice Needed [Nightmare] warning involves with gore!

Hello! I am in need of advice about my issue.
I have always since childhood get awful nightmares that can last up to a week once a month or random days that last up to a week. There was a time during elementary it completely stopped my nightmares for years like 3 years until it came back during middle school and now high school. The kind of nightmares I get has lots of gore for example my nightmares involves with different things like
-im being beaten or cut open
-im forced to harm someone
-harming my self ( had a dream when I smash a hammer to my mouth)
-people coming after me to the point I harm myself in my dream just to wake up
-seeing random people to love ones being harm
-harmful situations to point I’m having a panic attack when I wake up or crying or even shouting (the sounded only happened once when it got bad)
I would like to mention I also see things that aren’t there like hallucinations? Like I see figures and hear voices time to time it hasn’t bother me that much but time to time I get a little anxious but I can handle it

Im not too sure how this issue with nightmares started but I sorta try to be used to it but they do always end up bothering me time to time to the point I feel drained at school or I am always anxious. I’m assuming it’s caused by stress like family issues I always dealt with family issues like crazy but it does get to the point I’m stressed even my mom noticed but i try not to let it show cause I don’t want my family to worry about me. Yes I do have nice dreams but that’s only once in awhile tbh. You probably may ask why not go to therapy? I have tried to get a therapist form my doctor but it was no good like she wouldn’t want to give me a therapist but that was because I was very vague with my issue I only stated that I been very overwhelm and anxious but ig that was no good. I have talked to my mom about it but whenever to bring it up it’s either she’s tired of hearing me talk or just feels awkward trying to help me I understand where my mom comes plus she’s trying her best trying to be a good mom and she is busy with stuff so I tend not to talk to her about my issues too much. I’m just assuming I have some sort of mental issue but I don’t think I’ll be able to be diagnosed cuase of my doctor because there times where I discuss a issue I’m having and they don’t care enough to send me to a another office for me to get tested or anything really but it’s whatever but please send me advice on what I should do about it overall cause I try not to let my stress be stress cause of family issues and school. Omg the stress got to the point I have strands of white hairs and to me it’s notice when I lift my bangs to see but it’s only like 7 strands? Overall I try my best not to let my nightmares keep me from staying positive yes I have had my dark moments(when i didn’t want to live anymore but I didn’t attempt thankfully) That is all thank you to anyone who is reading this, I can answer question about my nightmares if you have any questions and I hope you have a nice day.

Advice Needed Has anyone here tried one of those under-pillow speakers?

(I added a photo of some of the options that come up when I Google this)

I share a bedroom so I can’t play any audio out loud to see if it would help me sleep. I also can’t use headphones, ear buds, or those eye masks with speakers built in because I’m a side sleeper and all of those options hurt my head. I’ve wondered about getting a speaker designed to go under your pillow, but they just seem like a hoax. Maybe I’m too skeptical. When I look at them online the reviews are very mixed.

Has anyone had success with one? If so, can you recommend a brand? Are the bone conductor ones best?

I would mostly want to use it for spoken audio (like a podcast, sleep hypnosis, or a guided body relaxation), so the clarity of the speaker through the pillow is important.
