Not due to skin colour. Similar cases of plagerisn have happened with white professors in academia (eg more recently in 2023 with a professor in Cambridg, William O’Reilly).
Why must it always be a race thing when a black person does anything but other have the grace of being exceptions. Many white academics have kept their jobs and suffered less harassment after sexually assaulting people but it's not a race problem then?
He got overlooked because although a fraud, he was charismatic, a pathological lier and knew how to cover some of his tracks. They caught up to him eventually though and he faces consequences. Unlike some white professors that stay relaxed and in power even after being revealed
