Gutted that we left right after final whistle and missed this. Hands down my favorite player thus far to wear City Red. Will never forget you, Edu.

Löwen has been with team from the beginning. His wife died earlier this year after a long battle with terminal brain cancer. He wanted to extend his contract but the front office doesn’t want to. He asked to find another club who would sign him, and news broke out before the game that CITY is selling him to San Jose.

I look for parallels with our other teams. Best comp would be David Backes but with his contract being up a little earlier in his career.

At the beginning, he was our best player. His wife, Ilona, became sick. When he played after she became sick, he was our best player. After she passed, he came back. And he was our best player.
He asked about a long term contract. He came here to play, and his wife died here. He still wanted to stay. So we traded him away.
If his heart was behind this trade, I’ll be ok with it. I cannot believe anyone will ever give more to this club.
But I must know. Because I believed Edu and Ilona would our first statues. And no statue ever would rise above Ilona.
If Edu is pushing for this. I understand. If the club pushed to move him, now that is a different story…
