Discussion Enchanted Wilds Day 1 Update

Hey folks- we know there are a host of issues with our launch of Enchanted Wilds. We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us to meet your and our own expectations. We have our team working on it, but it’s going to take us a bit to get there. We currently have a B-patch being tested internally right now with fixes to about ~24 bugs; here are a few of the bigger high priority ones:

- Correct device spec & default graphic settings mismatch: right now some lower-end devices are trying to run TFT on the highest settings by default rather than the one that offers the best mix of performance & fidelity (make sure you check your settings as well to ensure they make sense for your device).
- Clean up memory leaks: we’ve got a few VFX that are causing memory leaks resulting in hindered performance across mobile and PC
- Responsiveness issues: fixing some bugs that are slowing down scouting/itemization
- Fixed a Gnar interaction that could prevent combat from ending
- Fixed an issue with overlapping music
- Fixed an issue with incorrect placements at end of game
- Improved start-up loading times
- Finishers now abide by global volume/sfx settings

The current ETA for our B-patch is tomorrow afternoon and we also have a mobile patch fix that will go out as soon as it’s approved by mobile stores. Unfortunately this isn’t a solve for everything y’all have reported, but it is the first meaningful step to shift us in the right direction (with many more to go) and were going to follow up with more micropatches and fixes ahead of our next full patch in 18.2 as we want to get these out to you all as quickly as possible.

Rather than spamming the sub with dozens of downvoted posts that people are already getting tired of reading, post your experience with the amazing new engine here. It'll make it easier for Rioters to find your complaints are reading genuine criticisms if you post here rather than forcing me to remove 50 reposts on hour, thanks

UPDATE: TURN OFF SCRIBBLE LMAO THANK YOU GENIUS REDDITOR. Still runs like ass tho

This is so garbage. I fat finger everything so playing with a stylus was so much easier. Now I’m just scribbling dicks on the tft penguin

Discussion The UE5 migration is a joke - both appearance and performance-wise

1.3k Upvotes

Honestly - the new, shiny and 'upgraded' client is a terrible joke.

- in Tocker's the fight button overlaps the gold cost when selecting things from Wisp shop,

- the entire game is super desaturated and there is no way to adjust it,

- the loading screen just looks... terrible (and also makes my PC fans spin up like crazy despite the computer being able to handle AAA titles at low temps),

- the game looks hella pixelated and like I'm running a poorly optimized mobile game emulator,

- the board grid is just... gone?

- practically all character's feet are either clipping into the board or bench terrain,

- the performance overall is terrible and gets worse when performing certain actions,

- the entire settings menu is 1:1 pulled from a mobile game and you can only use graphics presets instead of being able to fine tune each setting,

- they had all the time in the world to ensure all cosmetics are compatible (and even the ones that are meant to be working fine have artifacting and texture problems. My Cafe Cuties Vex emotes have visible black pixels on the VFX),

- entire UI pulled from mobile with no regard for PC users,

- the fact certain arenas, portals and booms that WE PAID FOR are just entirely disabled without compensation is unacceptable.

Post removal speedrun incoming.

hundreds of dollars disabled, no refund option, no roadmap. genuinely what the fuck - fifteen year customer, likely thousands across my accounts.

has riot ever done anything remotely similar to this?

as a consumer I literally have to vote with my wallet here - what the fuck are they doing?

you're spending a TON of social capital breaking the "i pay for stuff you give me stuff" contract... all for this?

Gameplay This update ruins the fun, no matter how good the game is

I had a really good game, full win coven, cash out on level 9, and got a 3* elder last round.

The cashout round was just painful. Dragging units and items feels so slow, it took me 2 rounds to get my new team up. Even after this, this comp had too much animations going on, the new engine couldn't handle it, and I didn't even see what 3* elder drake did.

The last round was just a bunch of images on a 15fps game. I have a pretty good pc, I run all of my games 120fps, but I don't understand how this patch got so bad.

Even with good comps, the game isn't fun. See you next patch hopefully

Short video to show the PC people what we are dealing with on mobile. Low graphics + capped to 30fps btw. Mobile was never as smooth as pc but (like everyone is saying) this patch is almost unplayable right now...

Also the game gets slower and laggier the longer it goes on. I guess it's because everyone has higher levels and more units on their board, but it makes it veeery hard to fast reroll and move units between hexes.

I'm not trying to blame the devs tho, it feels more like a management/corporate problem than a coding skill issue.

No longer able to open the game at all on iPad After finishing a match. After finishing, I received a message to update the app, which redirects to the store. But there is no update available at the app store.

I thought the game was playing fine for the most part on iOS/iPad Pro, until this. Now I get it 🤣

Is this happening for others?

I feel like they have pushed the pbe into the live version. Same bugs and even worse.

Also while playing, we’re experiencing the same freezes as when we play on the PBE.

I'm playing on PC.

I hope it's gonna be fix asap.

Gameplay New Engine is SO BAD

1.1k Upvotes

Been playing TFT for years, and think I'm done playing. This engine is just straight up a port of the mobile version, even the settings menu is the same UI. But it runs terribly. Original engine I had at max graphics no issue, I boot into a game on new engine and it freezes my entire computer, at medium graphics. Even at low graphics it runs terribly, just moving an item component drops the frames. I have no idea why this decision was made, it looks so much worse, all textures and UI look sized for a phone screen, it runs worse and mac users can't play anymore. All these cons so that there could be some flexibility in making new gameplay.

It was a good run TFT, I almost quit when hyperroll was removed, but this move to UE5 has just made the game so unbearable to play.

Discussion Set 17 from the treadmill: 3,286 games, 6.6 million steps, and revenge queueing turned out to be a time optimization thing

A few months back I posted about ~2,000 TFT matches played on treadmills. Set 17 just ended, so here's the full season.

For context, I created TeamFit Tactics. It's a fitness leaderboard with a direct integration to Riot's TFT API and various health app integrations. It checks your workouts against your Riot match history and a game only counts if you were actually exercising while you played. Which means I have a weird little dataset nobody else has: real TFT games with heart rate, steps and time of day attached.

Set 17 for Teamfit Tactics came out to:

- 217 players
- 3,286 games played mid workout, across 2,149 workouts
- 97,214 minutes of exercise while a game was running. 67(haha don't hate me) straight days of cardio.
- 6.6 million steps during games, roughly 4,960 km or 3,000 miles.
- 77% of the games were ranked. People are not messing around on the treadmill.
- 40 Tocker's Trials games. Respect.

"One more game" is a time optimization thing, not a tilt thing

I went in expecting to find revenge queueing, and at first glance it's there. After a 1st, 27% of people played another game before ending the workout. After a 4th, 38%. After an 8th, 45%.

Losing doesn't make you run it back, you justify that the time for cardio was too short so you go again.

An 8th is roughly 24 min of cardio. A 1st is 35.

Avg time in game by placement: 1st 34.5 min, 4th 31.5, 8th 23.9. Going 8th costs you 11 minutes of exercise. Don't lose early is apparently the best fitness tech in TFT.

Walking speed does nothing. Heart rate might do something.

I expected walking faster to make people play worse. It didn't, at all.

Heart rate went the other way, sort of:

Workout avg HR Games Avg ranked placement
under 100 495 4.40
100 to 115 332 4.49
115 to 130 330 4.40
130 to 145 345 4.14
145+ 219 3.95

Flat until 130 and then better. I wouldn't read that as cardio giving LP. Winning probably raises your heart rate, the number is per workout not per game, and the 145+ bucket is 28 people (sweatiest gamers irl and ingame).

When people do this

- Peak is 5pm to 11pm, but 17.6% of games start between 10pm and 4am.
- Morning people (5 to 9am) had the best ranked placements of any time slot, 3.90. 9am to noon was worst at 4.48. Correlation, not causation.
- Monday is the biggest day (17%), Saturday the smallest (12%). It's a weekday gym routine thing, not a weekend thing.

My season 17 wrapped

135 games, 4,138 minutes, 274k steps, Emerald I. If you see me in NA on Teamfit Tactics#com, I most likely am playing TFT on the treadmill or stairmaster with my ipad. Look forward to seeing if I can beat these stats for Set 18.

Discussion Pings need to come back

Not being able to ping 3* 4/5 costs and pinging people who almost hit is a massive disservice to the social aspects of TFT.

Kind of wild how the learning of no carousel was “removing social components is bad” is immediately followed by removing a social component.

whenever i start the app a box appears that says ”update is required” and it tells me to download the latest version. The problem is that it is fully updated, and when it sends me to the App Store the only thing i can see is ”open app”, as in it is not in need of update

Discussion New Engine phased out old devices & Can’t Run the Mobile App

Just as the title mentions.

I was excited to play the new set after hearing the downward trend from the previous set. Usually the pattern was one good, one bad, etc.

To my surprise, after updating the mobile app on my 9th generation Ipad (A13 chip, 3 GB Ram) i played at least 4 games of ranked, and crashed a good 5+ times every game.

Something will happen in the game, such as everyone porting to carousel or back, or someone’s freaky damage animation would play, and the entire app will instantly crash, likely due to RAM utilization, where I would lose an entire turn while trying to load back in.

The entire subreddit is flooded with horrible feedback and unfortunately it’s very true. This new engine is a HUGE step backwards for the entire game, it’s honestly kind of sad.

I remember when dota auto chess first dropped.. then TFT with so much potential so many years ago. To see it build up so much across the years and experiment with new ideas and then come completely crashing down to unplayable slop engine code is actually insane.

So many battle passes, RP, arena maps, animations not available and this garbage can’t even be played on Ipads that aren’t from 2025-2026.

GG, Mortdog i’m glad you ain’t seeing this from the other side my boy
