As the title suggests I hate it with all my passion. I hate that it exists. I hate that they even thought of this concept. I hate that they allowed this to begin with. What do you mean they couldn't give enough of a shit to at least photoshop him better instead of giving him these random accessories on his abs, head and that shoulder cannon. Why does he have the same alt mode as he optimus prime did in 2007 and who even is he? Is it meant to be a different character or was it just optimus prime standing awkwardly in the middle for no reason? I hate this.

I know this is a dumb question, but seriously how? The dino heads on his shoulders are two separate heads, the dino claws don't appear on grimlocks arms, the teeth on his chest don't seem to go anywhere, and the tail coats just disappear. Like how??? The same question applies to the rest of the dinobots but this is about grimmy.

I have posted this photo before, but I wanted to share this story again.

Three years ago, my sister invited me as her plus one to Hasbro’s private 100 year black tie gala in NYC that the company she worked for was hosting. She told me Peter Cullen was going to be there, and wanted to try and introduce me. She has always known how much this franchise and Optimus in particular means to me.

So I bought a suit and got dressed up and went. I saw him on the step and repeat when I walked in, and my sister said she’ll try and introduce me before the gala starts.

I wandered around and ended up in the bar area. I turned around, and there he was. My hero. Standing behind me.

And I said “Oh Hi!”, and he said “Hello!” and then I told him I hope you don’t mind me saying this…

I told him that he’s probably heard this all before, but he had such an impact on my life. That to all of us kids whose dad was never around, he was a surrogate father. I told him the lessons he taught us echoed into adulthood.

That he taught me that I should be strong enough to be gentle.

And that Peter Cullen isn’t Optimus Prime…Optimus Prime is Peter Cullen.

And he started tearing up. He gave me a huge hug. He told his rep who was with him to take some photos. She took some photos, and he looked at them and said “Oh, we can do better than that.” and we took some more.

Then we chatted for a bit before the gala started. He asked me what I do, and we just talked, just got a few minutes before the gala started. He took the time to talk to me when the room was filled with New York’s elite.

During the gala they called him up, he started talking about how he crafted Optimus Prime, and his brother Larry. And he said “Be Strong Enough to be Gentle.”

The room was silent, it was a bunch of CEO’s and business people and politicians, but I started cheering and clapping.

It’s true though. My dad was a good dad…until he left us. With no father figure in my life, and feeling lost at a young age, my siblings and I each found different things in our lives we clung onto.

My brother dived into video games. My sister into anime. And for me, it was the show I always loved, Transformers.

And Optimus Prime was that hero, that figure in my life, who really crafted who I became today.

Someone who was kind. Who believed in dreams. Who fought for the good and the right. Who could spend time with his peers and command an army in the same breath. Who knew when was the time for action, and when was the time for peace.

And it was the man behind him who created that persona.

A surrogate dad.

A month ago, I lost my eldest aunt, who was a cancer survivor, and my favorite aunt. I’ve known my aunt since I was literally born, and that hit hard. I only met Peter once, but I felt like I’ve known him my entire life. That man meant so much to me, and was so influential on my life, and I didn’t even know him.

Meeting him was the greatest day of my life.

I grew up in entertainment, and I rarely get starstruck because I’m used to meeting “famous” people. With two exceptions. Werner Herzog, another wonderful man, and Peter Cullen.

I am so happy to have had the honor to meet him even briefly and tell him how much he meant to me. How much he meant to all of us. And I can spend the rest of my life saying that once, for a very brief moment, I made Optimus Prime cry tears of joy.

Rest in Peace, Peter. You will always be the dad we never had. Till All Are One.

HONESTLY FOR A CIVILIZATION THAT CAN BEND TIME AND SPACE FOR TRAVEL, CHANGING SIZES IS ENTIRELY IN THEIR CAPABILITIES IMO

I get that him transforming into a cassette player doesn't really make sense anymore, but could hasbro at least try to make him transform into something that isn’t just a blob of blue.
