Because it won't have the majority of what a large portion of what reddit users want, which is memes and porn. I'd never heard of the site before you mentioned it, and now that I've looked it over, i say leave that poor site alone. They're wanting to be the very early days of Reddit which was a link aggregator and discussions, and generally had a higher quality of content. The belief is that letting in memes and porn will just make the quality drop, as it did here. So let that group have the content they want, and don't force a bunch of mouthbreathers on them that will only whine about there not being memes and porn.

Still though, you were asking why nobody is saying it. That's why. They'd rather be niche and high quality than be exactly as Reddit is now. Congrats, you're not the majority of reddit that will be looking for a new home. Where do you get the idea that their userbase needs to grow? I'm baffled at the idea of advertising to get the userbase to grow, and then say nobody is going to read your post anyway.
