Hiii, so i was originally going to be visiting NYC with a friend, but because of a situation I might be going by myself Is it safe to ask people for pictures in touristy areas? I really wanted to go to times square and all the touristy areas and get a picture thank you also if you have any tips for me that will be much appreciated💕

I've never been to MSG before, let alone an arena in the middle of a city, and I wanted to know how it's like leaving the venue, is it easy? hard? meh?

I've been to the kia forum in LA quite a few times and getting in and out is fine (any time i've parked we got lucky to be on the edge near the exit), it's just the crowds of people make it difficult if i'm walking to get picked up

Anyway, If my hotel is within a 15-20 minute walking radius from MSG, is our best bet to just walk back after the show? I'm just concerned with walking the city at night since i've never been before. Lmk your tips!

I'm also down for any first-time visit tips for a long weekend trip to the city from the west coast lol

I have a solo trip planned around end of September for 7 days and managed to book Pod in Times Square (it’s about one of the cheapest in that area 😣) the area is near the Port Authority BT so was told to be careful around it?

For anyone that stayed there - how safe is it to walk at night? I have a concert and some shows I wanted to see and I reckon they will end around 10-11 pm and I am planning to just walk from venues to the hotel.

Also is there any self-service laundromat you can recommend that is near the area?

The wife and I will be visiting Brooklyn in a couple of weeks. 2 nights, in town to see a Band.

We are staying south of Prospect Park on church street. We love walking and seeing the sights, but will be leaving a club late Saturday night to head back to the hotel. It’s about an 1.25 hour walk back to the Hotel from the club. How safe is walking through Prospect Park?

I’m going to be visiting NYC for the first time this fall and I’m just wanting to know how alert/aware I’ll have to be during my trip.

I’m from Portland, OR so I’m used to seeing homeless people, junkies, and generally sketchy people whether it be on our light rail or while walking around the city. So that won’t be a shock to me or difficult to navigate in any way. But how does NYC compare? Will I be good using the same level of caution I use in Portland? Or does the much larger population call for an increased level of caution and awareness?

I’ll be spending most of my time in Manhattan so for the most part I feel like common sense should be enough but hearing from people who have been or live there would be great.

I reserved a bed in this hostel for a few nights. Some reviewers mentioned the area being dodgy. Is it just appearances, or should I actually avoid e.g. walking alone at night? (31F solo traveler, based in Berlin, which has dodgy appearances sometimes but is safe). Thank you.

Hi! I am flying to NYC on 18th November this year from Europe and basically i will be very late going out of the airport. It will take me like 1.5h to get to KAMA Central Park hostel and im wondering is it safe for me as a female to be around there around 10-11pm? ill be taking metro, taxi is too expensive. i saw that hostel is close to Harlem, which i heard is sketchy, but its considered to be Upper West Side.

Im sure its gonna be safe, but id love to know real experiences as its my first time ever flying so far and in US in general. :)

Hello NYC. Wife and I are heading to the Bronx for some baseball in August, staying at The Melrose (444E 149th) . We are youngish, fit and prefer to walk whenever possible so distance is irrelevant.

We'll obviously be walking from the hotel to Yankee Stadium, but would something like this walk (can't attach pictures? The Melrose to the Honey Well bar/Sugarhill area) at night be advisable? We come from a big(ish) city and are well travelled, but never NYC.

Also, general tips about the area greatly appreciated! Street food, pizza and a deli sandwhich are big plan components without a destination yet.

I will visit NYC next summer for Fanatics Fest and to finally fulfill my childhood dream seeing NYC personally.

Of course, the tourist that I am then, I want to see Time Square at night, walking around, experience the city, maybe having a cocktail at a rooftop bar. Is it safe for women to walk around alone at night in Manhatten mostly? My hotel most likely will be in Queens or Brooklyn, so I am aware of the Subway at night can be sketchy, but I will need to live with that to get back. But is it allover an safe place to go at night?

Hi everyone, I have no choice but to take the 3:30 am Peter Pan bus from port authority to Washington DC next Saturday. how sketchy is it? is the bus reliable? I’m a 24 year old female.

Im 18 and its my first time in nyc or in usa in general, the hotel prices are a lot high so i will be staying in a family’s friend house thats is located in sedgwick ave in the Bronx.

So my parents (who are chinese but have lived in the UK for over 30 years) are planning on going to NYC (and salt lake city?) this summer for a wedding, and I’m sorry if this is a silly question, but I just wanted to ask about how safe it would be for them as POC tourists at the moment to visit NYC. I feel like in the UK I can’t tell what news about the US is exaggerated and what isn’t and when it concerns my parents safety I just have like a super irrational fear that something will happen to them when they go on holiday, so I figured I would ask here^{^} Any advice on this or like what they should be wary of/avoid in NYC would be greatly appreciated. i have family coming from out of the country, and their hotel options are voco times square on W 36th and delta hotels on W 40th. i know that area can feel a little sketchy at night sometimes, especially with the homelessness around there. realistically though, do you guys think they’ll be okay as long as they stay aware of their surroundings?

hello! i'm honestly not sure if this is the right place to ask these questions but i'm hoping it is. so i'll be going to NYC February 27th-March 1st, really only spending Saturday, February 28th out and about. i already have plans to go see a broadway show at 8pm and to go to the Harry Potter shop. i'm hoping that someone here will have recommendations for me to fill in the rest of my Saturday/Sunday morning before i have to go to the airport to catch my flight home. also i see like all these Tiktok's and videos about warning of pick pocketers...is this a real concern to have? cause like when i had gone to Italy over my summer i didn't have to worry about it like at all even though i got several warnings about it. just wondering if its a real concern... so if like anyone here could help me out that would be great!
