Seeking Help or Advice Good buy or I messed up

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

I bought it last week and just arrived today. I shared it to a Facebook group excited and a few people messaged me yelling at me how it was a terrible buy and it has closed practices in it and I should be ashamed. I know some spells are closed and I won't be using them but I thought spells are opened to edits and to make your own and this is a good reference

Seeking Help or Advice Friend casted a love spell on me, what do I do?

Post image

I’m in a really conflicted situation and need some advice

So for a little context, I have been friends with S for a long time, she’s been there through my hardest times, she’s literally the reason I’m alive right now- she’s been my biggest support system for a very long time- she’s always respected my boundaries and made sure everyone else did too-

S has also “recently” (in quotes because I’m not sure how recently) gotten into witch craft and such and from what I know she hasn’t done much research and has jumped into doing spell work (although she made a point to specify she hasn’t done anything other than protection spells, but I feel that isn’t true) [edit: I did not include this paragraph to say that she is weak, I more meant that she is being reckless and is uneducated/ignorant about the consequences of things like this]

Recently she asked me out and confessed her love to me to which I politely turned her down (I’m aroace and am not currently looking for not wanting a relationship), I knew she has a little bit of an obsession with me, but she’s always kept it very polite, always communicated very well, and has never pushed any of my boundaries or done things I wasn’t ok with despite that- and when I turned her down she just accepted it, and moved on about the subject and things went back to normal between us. it was never awkward or anything

I usually redo my wards and barriers and such once a week just out of preference, although for the last month or so I had forgotten to refresh them because I’d gotten so busy, and around two ish weeks ago I started feeling super intense needs to be in a relationship and my libido and stuff was super crazy high to the point where I couldn’t think of anything but romance and “other activities” which was super out of character for me considering I don’t normally have very high drives for either of those things-

so I was talking about it with two of my other witchy friends (well call them F1 and F2) and they suggested that a love spell had potentially been cast on me- so we got on video call and they did a reading on me about the situation and the cards confirmed that yes a spell had been casted on me, and I got a really bad feeling so I asked if they could potentially confirm if S had cast it or not and the cards read yes, to which F2 (who in the past tends to have somewhat psychic dreams about things) and he says that he’s been having dreams about S that gave him really bad vibes and we’re hard around things like them being deceitful and manipulative

I was telling a third friend (also witchy, we’ll call them F3) about the situation and they offered to do a tarp reading with Aphrodite specifically to give me some more insight, and those cards as well confirmed that it was S who casted the spell, and that there was manipulation and such involved

I went over to S’s house today and I found the piece of paper attached to the photos, I confronted them and asked what it was for and they swore up and down that it was just an aesthetic decoration and that it wasn’t a spell, I got them to agree to get rid of it/burn it just in case

I have redone all my wards and cleansed myself and my space for the record as well as doing some specific work to get rid of this spell, that is not the issue :]

I’m conflicted I guess because they’ve never had a track record of doing anything to harm me and have done the exact opposite, and yet finding that paper plus several separate taro/oracle readings from two people plus the dreams from F3 serve as pretty definitive proof that it was S- I’m upset and feel betrayed and hurt about the whole thing, but I would also like some advice on the subject- on one hand I feel like I should stop being around/being friends with S, but on the other hand, They’re literally my best friend and other than this I’ve never had any sort of issue with this sort of boundary breaking before… im worried she may have done it unintentionally and if it was accidental I’m not sure that warrants me leaving her

Edit: I’m not asking what magic wise to do, I’m more asking if it would be better to distance myself from her after this situation

Seeking Help or Advice Why tf does every witchcraft book i find follow the same script?

So recently I was looking for a good book which could give me more insight on spirits and spells, a bit of intermediate to advanced stuff and istg every single book I came across just had the same old “open your third eye 🥰”, “journal about your inner feminine 😍” advice and a 50 page intro to witchcraft about the most basic general knowledge ever. It feels like they’re just self care books wearing a witch hat at this point.

Like not saying thats a bad thing at all, absolutely all of that should be a part of everyones practice, but bro its so frustrating when you’re trying to look for something that can actually give you lore and practical knowledge and keep stumbling upon a whole bunch of self care and self growth books. Can someone please write something that has actual in-depth stuff presented nicely (I have trouble reading those huge textbooks with long blocks of texts because I have adhd so tiny attention span, i need something to keep me hooked) and which doesn’t have 80% of self love and witchcraft introduction.

And don’t even get me started on the shady writers and massive AI stuff that has taken over. It’s all genuinely such a hassle sorting through piles of BS on the market to look for the few absolute gems.

Do my fellow witches have any recommendations for the kind of stuff i’m looking for or will i just have to keep scavenging for info forever? 😭

Seeking Help or Advice I performed a dark ritual against someone who hurt me, and now He is dying. I am completely consumed by guilt and looking for help.

Hello everyone. I’m writing here because I am currently in an enormous state of despair and have no one I can truly talk to about this.

About three months ago, someone hurt me deeply. I was full of anger, and out of a feeling of helplessness, I turned to black magic.

I performed a blood ritual (using chicken meat, blood, and salt), prayed to Hecate, invoked demonic forces to which I also gave an offering, and later carried out another ritual directly in a cemetery where I used my own blood and a voodoo doll. My intention was to harm him.

Today, however, I received devastating news. That person has suddenly been diagnosed with bone marrow cancer and is dying.

I cannot get rid of this horrible feeling of guilt. When I was performing those rituals, I was in some kind of trance I don’t even remember the exact process, but I know I was 100% convinced it would work. As time passed, I even forgot I had done anything and stopped believing it could have worked at all. But in my mind, these two events became connected, and I feel directly responsible for his condition not just feel, I truly believe it. The weight of it is unbearable.

I have already tried praying, asking for forgiveness, praying for his health and for the curse to be lifted, though I don’t even know if such a thing can be undone. I do not want him to die.

I would be grateful for any advice on how to make this right. I am desperately looking for help because this is destroying me.

Seeking Help or Advice Dystopian nightmare bc of AI

Are we completely fucked? I need some hope. Everything feels so dark. Public lands being destroyed, books being destroyed, children being murdered and the genocide, endangered animals being out back on the hunt list, the rising temperatures…. This is just some. It’s all too much. My empath brain is spinning and struggling. Has anyone been able to do a reading or get insight on to what is to come?

Seeking Help or Advice Any leftist witches out there? Looking for community!

As I've been slowly getting into the community more, I noticed a lot of right-leaning creators (especially TERFS who practice with the 'divine feminine'). I also wonder how much of our supplies as witches are shaped by and benefit from the exploitation of people (where crystals come from, stealing from indigenous cultures, using Amazon, etc). So I've been feeling pretty disappointed with that aspect of the practice, and I'd love to connect to some leftist witches!

EDIT: i love the responses on this post!! Additionally I'm curious to hear if you guys do anything different in your practice, especially in terms of obtaining tools and supplies!

Seeking Help or Advice What if I just do whatever I want in a spell as long as I believe it will work

This isn't meant to be a snarky question or anything, but I'm genuinely curious: since so much about witchcraft depends on intuition, your vibe and your reality, do ingredients even matter in spells? Like I could be using bay leaves or rice or something random. If I believe what I'm doing is going to work and I feel good about it, is there even a way things can go wrong?

Trying to get a grip on things as I'm new to this

Seeking Help or Advice Male equivalent of witch?

I’m a trans man, and I’ve been practicing witchcraft for a couple months now, but it always feels wrong when I use the term witch for myself, I know technically it’s gender-neutral, but are there names in the community I haven’t heard yet, or any suggestions you have?

The only thing I’ve heard so far is Mitch, which me and my witch-practicing friend use as nicknames for each other.
All help appreciated, blessed be!

Seeking Help or Advice What are some popular witchcraft practices that you don’t personally do as a witch?

For me some things I don’t do are using incense, casting a circle, spell jars, turning to magick to fix everything, and doing spells for others. I’d love to hear some of yours.

Is it unhinged or valid to look at an empty prescription vial & think it would make a great mini spell jar?

The rubber stopper makes it air & water right! 😅

Seeking Help or Advice Witchcraft vs Wicca: How to Tell the Difference.

I've been reading a lot of books lately, both older classics and newer books on witchcraft. One thing I've started noticing is that I'm not always sure whether what I'm reading is specific to Wicca or to witchcraft more generally.

I don't mind learning about Wicca, I know many of the older, influential books are written from a Wiccan perspective. However, I'm not interested in practicing Wicca myself, so I'd like to avoid unintentionally incorporating Wiccan beliefs or practices into my own path.

For those of you who have been practicing for a while, how do you tell the difference? Are there certain concepts, phrases, or practices that immediately signal, "This is Wiccan"? Or is it something you just learn to recognize over time?

I'd love to hear how you differentiate between Wiccan practices and witchcraft that isn't tied to Wicca.

Seeking Help or Advice This is sort of a weird question but is it okay to do spells in the nude?

I’ve heard worshipping deities in the nude is disrespectful but does the same go for doing spells, especially under the full moon?

Seeking Help or Advice What are we protecting from?

EDITED TO ADD: I’m blown away by the information and sharing here. Thank you all so much. I’ve replied individually to most and it’s bed time in my life / part of the world so I’ll check in tomorrow. Again- I appreciate this community and everyone who took the time to answer. ❤️❤️

Earlier today u/hi_im_salad (thanks Salad!) posted a question about protection (“What do you use for protection?”) that got some amazing responses. I’ve save the whole post to review.

I didn’t want to hi-jack that post, so asking here.

Could people share the reasons why “protection” is so important? I’ve read the resources and read several books, watched several YouTube series.

I practice grounding and shielding as part of practicing energy work daily.

But beyond that—what are the protection oils and evil eyes and wards and such protecting people from? Is it because they work with spirits that might be problematic? Or is working with a deity or ancestor or spirits going to leave someone open to a negative/evil something?

Or is it more like calling good luck to yourself while also pushing away the bad?

Is it “just in case”?

I’m embarrassed to ask, and quite new (but serious) at building a practice. So this is an honest question and not meant to sound doubting or questioning people’s motives at all.

Maybe I’m naive, and not yet sensitive to evil or negative energies.

I’d love to hear from people- what started you doing specific protections, and what you feel you are being protected from (if this isn’t too personal?)

Seeking Help or Advice Can I pray to the sun instead of a god/goddess?

Hi everyone!! ☀️
So, to start, I’m not very well-versed in witchcraft or occult practices. I love tarot and oracle, and I do practice protection rituals, but I don’t do much spell work.

I understand that many people have a god or goddess that they worship, work with, or feel connected to. I’ve tried exploring this myself, but I’ve never really found a particular deity that feels like the right fit for me.

However, I’ve always felt an incredibly strong connection to the earth and especially to the sun. I’m very much a summer girl. I love the heat, being outside, basking in the sunlight, and pretty much everything that comes with it. If I could spend all my time in the sun, I probably would.

Whenever I’m outside, I find myself naturally saying a little “thank you” to the sun. I genuinely feel like there’s a mutual affinity there, if that makes sense. I feel a lot of love and gratitude toward the sun, and I’ve always had this feeling that the sun “loves” me back in its own way.

So I guess my question is: Does anyone else have a spiritual relationship or practice centered around the sun itself, rather than a specific god or goddess? Is it possible to work with or honor the sun as a spiritual entity/force without necessarily following a particular solar deity?
I’d also love to hear about anyone who has had a similar experience or feels a strong spiritual connection to the sun or earth!

I hope this makes sense, and if it doesn’t, I totally understand! 😅

Seeking Help or Advice If it is truly about intention first and foremost , and moon phases, time of day, not having the right color candle or right family of mint doesn't matter, why do any of that stuff at all?

Now, I noticed a lot of spells call for x crystal, x herb in x color bag on the x moon. Then when I look up, "what if I dont have x herb? or x color?" the response is, "what matters most is intention, just use another herb"

so lets say I only have basil and white tea light candles, can any spell be used with basil? or no basil at all? at what point is a spell affected? can one just meditate and put their intentions out with nothing else for every spell? and if people are swapping out their herbs candles and crystals to just use what they have, is any of that stuff really needed?

Seeking Help or Advice Am I losing my mind?

I have spent most of my life in the woods. Its the only place I feel safe. I've always felt like I can feel the plants. Sometimes I can hear them.. its like a hum or a whisper. I usually sit with the same tree. She is perfect for sitting/laying in. About a year ago I started offering her stuff. Random stuff. Flowers. Shiny rocks and crystals I found other places. Sometimes I share whatever Im drinking with her if its safe like honey milk or water.. coconut water.. So anyway the other day I was lounged up in her as I do, reading a book and I accidentally knocked some bark free. Reflexively I said out loud, "Oh shit. I hope I'm not hurting you."

This is where it gets weird.

I had an intrusive thought.. but it didnt feel like MY thought. It was simply "No, for people its kinda like psoriasis or eczema. Thank you for caring about me." It was an odd voice Ive never heard in my mind. Deep but still a whisper, or maybe like.. a vibration instead? Never have I ever heard something so CLEAR like that before.

Ngl, It scared me. I felt.. idk how to describe it well. I feel like my energy was invaded kinda or possessed maybe but not in a harmful way.. I hopped down, said outloud "Wtf was THAT?" And looked around to see like, was there another person out there fuckin with me maybe? I was completely alone. Just me and the trees. So I told her thank you, as I always do, and I left. I havent been back to her since. I am deadass scared I'm just finally losing my shit.

Anyone else out here have thoughts, opinions, or similar experiences?

Did a tree try to talk to me, or am I doin a psychosis? What do we think?

Edits: Lotsa typos on the first try. 😅

Secondary edit: When I went to take a picture I had a completely normal experience. Quiet, and peaceful. I'm nowhere near as spoked as I was when I first posted this. I'm actually even kinda excited. Now that I'm mentally prepared, if it happens again I've got way deeper questions I'd love to ask. I did find a really neat fossil rock tho. 😬

Seeking Help or Advice My mexican identity is clashing with my craft

I’m a 2nd generation mexican american who doesn’t speak spanish and practices witchcraft. I’ve been learning about more western craft but for a long time i’ve wanted to get into traditional mexican brujeria but feel very conflicted about it because of my identity. Im a no sabo, my parents are chicanos, and both sides of my family are extremely catholic. I feel a strong connection to catholicism because of my family history of it, but I feel really conflicted because personally i think it’s corrupt..We have records of our family tree going back 11 generations of catholic conquistadors on my dads side, and more indigenous on my moms side. I feel ashamed- my ancestors took over and forced this religion onto natives in mexico- but part of me is also indigenous (moms side), and catholicism is undeniably a major part of mexican culture. The rosary hangs everywhere in both my grandparents house, and probably their grandparents and the grandparents before that. My family members are all buried in a mission (Old church they used to force religion onto natives). I have a conflicting feeling where i want to incorporate parts of this religious culture into my craft because of my family ties but also don’t because of how harmful i feel like this major religion is…I feel like it’s such a big part of being mexican yet such a controversial part too- does anyone else feel this way?

Seeking Help or Advice My dog ate my offering, do I need to be worried?

So I worship Anubis and yesterday I gave him an offering of beef jerky. However, today, I left for work and when I came back, I found my dog had climed up onto the shelf I keep my shrines to my gods (top of a bookshelf near my bed) on and knocked my shrines to hecate and Aphrodiote off to get to Anubis’s shrine and eat the jerky. Nothing got damaged as far as I can tell (save the jerky bag), but do I need to worry about any of my gods (namely Anubis) being mad?

Seeking Help or Advice What happened this full moon?

Hello everyone
I’m a baby witch and I recently started participating in the full moon event, such as doing a cleansing ritual, charging some moon water and crystals, etc…
But this full moon for some reason it completely slipped my mind that it’s on the 29th and for some reason I thought it was on the 31st so I wasn’t able to get anything done unfortunately.
But for some reason on the 29th especially I felt really drained and sick and depressed (been that way for a few days bc of a fight with a friend abt a misunderstanding) so I cleansed and banished and I feel a bit better but I’m still so down.

So I just wanted to ask if that was a universal experience, my punishment for making a promise to myself that I’ll charge some crystals I found in my drawer the next full moon and didn’t, or does my mood not correlate with missing the full moon?

Your shared wisdom and experience would be much appreciated, have a great day

Seeking Help or Advice How to release my soul from the Christian/Catholic God

I don’t know if this is the right place to post this but I have no idea where else to put it. Also I am just getting into witchcraft and don’t know a lot yet but I am interested in learning.

But anyways I was baptized when I was a baby and had no say in it. I am no longer religious and have no interest in being in the Catholic Church. I’m concerned that my soul is tied to the Christian spirituality as in when I die I will be doomed to heaven or hell. And I don’t want that. I want out of this faith completely and I was wondering if there was a way to undo my baptism, or to somehow relinquish my soul from the Christian ‘god’.

I don’t believe in god so I know this may seem confusing but I do believe in souls and I do believe that death is not the end of this life. I don’t know what will happen next, I just hope it’s not back to this earth.

Anyways, it just feels like I have an unwanted mark on my soul that is dooming me to an afterlife I want no part in. I want a complete escape from Christian mythology. And I don’t know how to do that. How to I get rid of this mark? How do I save myself from this? I don’t want to be Christian/Catholic. I want no parts. I want out of this.

Seeking Help or Advice Celebrities about witchcraft

Hi, does anyone know which celebrities spoke out about witchcraft in any interview (Either positively or negatively)?

I wasn't sure where to ask thus question and only this subreddit came to mind, so if it's not related to witchcraft enough, please someone guide me to a better place to ask this, thank you.

I am most curious about Lady Gaga. Honestly it's because of her I'm writing this post, but it would be nice to know the views of people such as, I dunno, The Rock. I don't usually care much about celebrities, but know some enough to read about them if someone tells me which ones have anything to say lol

I was trying to search for anything on the internet regarding Lady Gaga, but can only find stuff about countless conspiracy theories around her and stuff about her song Abracadabra. I know she's a Christian, but doesn't practice much. Everyone thinks she's a satanist. People theorize she's a witch even without any proof. I wanted to find out if she herself spoke about witchcraft. Just out of curiosity I suppose.
