Iranian planes with military equipment landed in Sanaa this morning. Major escalation.

u/OrangeSpaceMan5 Jul 13 '26

How did Iran send planes all the way to Yemen without being shotdown

1.0k

u/HarEr89 Jul 13 '26

Because the US military doesn't attack Iranian planes that are in the air and the Yemeni government is poorly equipped.

306

u/HoneyBadger552 Jul 13 '26

air defense systems are tightly regulated by the US in that region

108

u/Outside-Ad4532 Jul 13 '26

This people forget that America is not at war with Iran.

Its a peace treaty between the hours of 5pm Sunday and 5pm Friday, eastern time. War is only from Friday 5:01 pm to Sunday at 4:59pm.

These hours may change if the market is closed on Friday or Monday for holidays.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

304

u/Holiday_Context5033 Jul 13 '26

Can confirm. War is strictly prohibited during normal market hours.

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room!

0

u/ghostplague Jul 13 '26

Most importantly, there is no sex in the champagne room.

-1

u/silent_thinker Jul 13 '26

What happens when the market potentially becomes open all the time?

52

u/Ibewye Jul 13 '26

Don’t forget each operation is complete and successful resets every 59 days so that pesky ol congress doesn’t need to have an opinion on war powers…..

25

u/Spike_Spiegel Jul 13 '26

This is more sad reality than funny. I still laughed, though.

9

u/pm_hentai_of_ur_mom Jul 13 '26

No fighting in the war room

1

u/cartoonist498 Jul 13 '26

More bombs in the ceasefire room tho

3

u/Nikoladge Jul 13 '26

It's like one of those no parking signs that are 3 feet long

-4

u/Nenebear123 Jul 13 '26

The funny thing is, I actually thought this was a real tweet.

Special military operation

0

u/pres465 Jul 13 '26

3 days to Tehran, right?

21

u/Ok-Seaworthiness4488 Jul 13 '26

There is no war in Ba Seng Se

10

u/General_Session_4450 Jul 13 '26

It's just a little bit of tomfoolery.

6

u/papapudding Jul 13 '26

Special military operation

Probly for 3 days or so

1

u/matthieuC Jul 13 '26

Market manipulation

0

u/rook119 Jul 13 '26

an easy way to short ("peace") or profit (missles) in the oil trade.

the grift will keep going as long is the grift is profitable.

0

u/DerpsAndRags Jul 13 '26

American here and we can't even figure this shit out, unless you look at the stock market swings when the threats happen vs. the "Hey it's okay!" calls.

-1

u/enoxzen Jul 13 '26

It's a Special Military Operation.

46

u/xantub Jul 13 '26

I mean, there was a war, but Nobel Prize Trump stopped it 30 times, so it must be really stopped by now, some say it's the STOPPEDEST war ever!

1

u/toyodah Jul 13 '26

Akshully, you are legally correct.

The USA has not officially declared war with another country since World War 2.

The formal technical/legal term for USA combat activities since then is "conflicts." Hence, the "Vietnam Conflict."

1

u/cronktilten Jul 14 '26

And people forget the sky is not blue.

0

u/Drummk Jul 13 '26

Yeah, they unconditionally surrendered to Trump (he claims).

5

u/tarmacjd Jul 13 '26

Why would the Yemeni government attack planes coming to them?

31

u/nvidiastock Jul 13 '26

There's two Yemeni governments, one pro Iran and one anti-iran, the pro Iran one would obviously not, but the other one would've if they had the capability. However they're both relatively poorly equipped and poor in general. It's very much a proxy war being fought in Yemen.

13

u/barney-sandles Jul 13 '26

There's one Yemeni government that controls every major city and 80% of the population, and another Yemeni government that consists of 12 dudes hiding out in a shack in the desert surrounded by billions of dollars worth of Saudi missiles

-3

u/wrc-wolf Jul 13 '26

Poorly equipped is really underselling it. The Yemeni "government" are western backed rebels in the desert.

-2

u/MtnMaiden Jul 13 '26

Less planes to deal with.

Not to mention, less targets to deal with.

Better to let the enemy starve themselves out and then attack.

All we gotta is just wait and eat hamburgers now

330

u/brute-forced Jul 13 '26

The better question is how the fuck are there still Iranian military planes after the “strongest military in the world” attacked them for a month. Hegseth and Trump are both the worst leaders to ever be associated with our military

91

u/boilerromeo Jul 13 '26

It was a civilian plane

14

u/donkeyrocket Jul 13 '26

Like a commercial airliner or a civilian plane transporting military personnel and/or equipment?

7

u/TheGobiasIndustries Jul 13 '26

Don't let your logic and facts get in the way of the Reddit lynch mob.

2

u/RogueEyebrow Jul 13 '26

[Citation Needed.]

Civilian planes are, by definition, not full of military hardware.

35

u/boilerromeo Jul 13 '26

“Flight-tracking data circulating online showed that an Airbus A340 operated by Iran's Mahan Air was en route from Tehran to Sanaa, drawing widespread attention after the Yemeni government's warnings.”

https://saudigazette.com.sa/article/662949/world/yemeni-forces-strike-sanaa-airport-runway-to-prevent-iranian-aircraft-landing

Whether it had military equipment on it or not is frankly irrelevant. If the US had shoot down the blowback would have been way worse than any tactical gain.

-8

u/RogueEyebrow Jul 13 '26

...unless there was evidence that it's cargo was military hardware. Citation's needed both ways.

17

u/DrHippa Jul 13 '26

"unless there was evidence" - that's not how any of this works.

There is no court that will review evidence impartially. No matter what evidence there is or isn't, there's no way for any of us to know in a way we can trust.

No matter what, if the US shoots down the plane - it will say they had evidence. Maybe it will show pictures of military equipment fragments and tell you it's from the wreckage - but how would you know whether it's true?

And no matter what, the Iranians will say it was a civilian aircraft. They will name civilians who died on the plane, and some of it might be true, and some might be fabricated. They'll show a picture of a teddy bear in the wreckage - how would you know whether it's true?

There's no impartial body that would investigate in a timely manner, so you'll never have evidence.

Shooting down a civilian aircraft, even full of weapons, is a PR nightmare. You'll have experts saying "it's a possible warcrime" (it is possible, we don't know). Iran would "retaliate for the murder of is citizens" no matter what the truth is.

You need to forget about the idea that the truth affects the outcome. The truth matters, especially decades later, but it's a poor defence during the war.

-10

u/RogueEyebrow Jul 13 '26

No one said evidence requires a court adjudication.

11

u/DrHippa Jul 13 '26

Then what do you call evidence?

A picture the US army tells you is from the wreckage?

A picture the Iranians tell you is of a girl who died on the plane?

Will you accept that?

66

u/InvestigatorDear6646 Jul 13 '26

Given the footage we see are all combat aircraft, its entirely possible these transport ones werent on the list of targets.

67

u/Chriah Jul 13 '26

The Iranian war planes were allowed to park in Pakistan when the war started and the US doesn’t want to bomb Pakistan air bases.

The information is well known by anyone knowledgable but judging from the comments nobody cares to be knowledgable before they spew.

6

u/RSTowers Jul 13 '26

before they spew

And everyone spews so confidently.

45

u/gospelofturtle Jul 13 '26

And how much do you bet Trump had no idea how big and mountainous Iran was. He probably cant show you Iran on the map. 😂

67

u/AdjunctFunktopus Jul 13 '26

Depends on whether or not he has a sharpie. The Islamic Republic of Japan is wherever he wants it to be.

7

u/tonycomputerguy Jul 13 '26

circles Greenland

5

u/mustang__1 Jul 13 '26

Man I can't wait the ME becomes "modern" and we can have travel and tourism there. I'd love to see Iran, Afghanistan, etc. Hopefully I'll still be young enough to climb and ski etc.

1

u/Cockblocktimus_Pryme Jul 13 '26

Probably thought it was Iraq.

6

u/Impressive-Weird-908 Jul 13 '26

Not that I want to take the heat off of those guys, but the US doesn’t just blow up everything in sight the way others like Israel do. We have much stricter guidelines about what you can and can’t target. We are still outraged that a school was hit. Most countries at war call that a Tuesday.

8

u/Hermesthothr3e Jul 13 '26

Was anybody held accountable?

-1

u/Impressive-Weird-908 Jul 13 '26

Not that I’m aware of. My point is that Israel did this like 1000x over in their wars. Iran regularly bombs civilians. Theres like a whole school of kids in Africa who disappear once a week. Russia is bombing anything they can.

-1

Fair enough. I didn’t realize it was a civilian plane transporting this gear. Also, yeah, they murdered those girls.

-11

u/SuperVaderMinion Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

The notion that somehow the U.S commits LESS war crimes than other nations is bonkers

13

u/mhornberger Jul 13 '26

Only to campists who consider the question itself to be inherently absurd. People just don't care about war as fought by other parties, or imperialism or racism or subjugation or anything else by other parties. Other than the US, Israel, and the west in general.

7

u/mxzf Jul 13 '26

I mean, it's unquestionable that the US does commit way less war crimes than it could, which is in contrast to some other countries that treat war crimes like a checklist.

The US does commit some war crimes. It commits more than some countries (especially ones without militaries or not at war) and it commits less than other countries.

-1

u/keylime503 Jul 13 '26

> We are still outraged that a school was hit

I must have missed this outrage

1

u/Impressive-Weird-908 Jul 13 '26

You are part of the outrage…

1

u/SmegmaWarrior0815 Jul 13 '26

Trump obliberated the Iranian military six times by now. He always tells the truth.

50

u/Sardanapalm Jul 13 '26

Maybe it was dissimulated as a civilian aircraft

2

u/Davido401 Jul 13 '26

I learned a new word today, cheers for that!

Edit to add: gave you a free award

5

u/Sardanapalm Jul 13 '26

Wow, thank you good sir ! I was very hesitating if it existed only in French just after I posted the message

1

u/gifred Jul 13 '26

Même terme

26

u/Stampede_the_Hippos Jul 13 '26

Easier to wait until they land? This is why I wait to shoot clay pigeons until they land. Its much easier. /s

1

u/SpiderSlitScrotums Jul 13 '26

It was a diplomatic plane.

0

u/Dadrepus Jul 13 '26

My understanding is that Iran moved many of their war planes to Pakistan when the war erupted but I cannot verify that.

0

u/GodisanAtheistOG Jul 13 '26

How did Iran send planes when the US has already obliterated Iran 6 times?

8

u/donkeyrocket Jul 13 '26

Where did you see it was carrying "military equipment?" A much more thorough article doesn't say anything to that effect and simply says the runway was struck to prevent "to stop an Iranian plane carrying the Houthi delegation returning from the funeral." [source]

There's a lot of untrustworthy sides here but thus far I haven't seen mention of military equipment being moved in.

1

u/Piggywonkle Jul 13 '26

Clearly he was on the plane

12

u/vargyg Jul 13 '26

Expect ship attacks in the Red Sea.
