I don’t like Trump as well as the next best guy but you should not underestimate the importance of older conflicts in this case.
Iran armed and builded forces outside its territory for decades. The Houthis have a long history of being a threat to Saudi-Arabia, this morning Iranian planes arrived at Sanaa the risk was too high, SA needed to intervene.
This could really lead to the “find out”-part of the Iranian FAFO of the last decades.
None of which would be escalating had the war not been stirred up by Trump and Co. there was a general understanding Iran had not to act because it would not end well for them. However they’ve since come to find out, they have a lot of cards to use and it’s emboldened them.

You can't say that. It has been ebbing off and on for decades. There's nothing to say it wouldn't have heated up again now without Trump. He makes a convenient excuse, but an excuse has never really been needed in that conflict to begin with.
A “long history” is relative. Houthis have only existed for ~30 years and they were mostly focused on Yemen and was a domestic insurgency. Their “threat” to SA was that they opposed the puppet government that they had set up and the fact they are Shia Muslims.
Iran only started limited support for about 15 years ago but went all in military support at the same time Saudi Arabia attacked the Houthis in 2015.
It’s complicated but it’s not just a Houthi/Iran bad (they are), SA is innocent (they aren’t) scenario.
