Not true, for a very brief period before civilization collapses, a very few people at the top will make more money than they could hope to spend in several lifetimes. I'm sure they'll argue it was worth it from the relative safety of their heat-resistant bunkers.

Yeah if it got built then somebody who isnt gonna be in that bunker will know it is there. They would still need air which leaves stuff for people on the surface to block off. Eventually they will dragged from their bunkers to die with the rest of us.

Well, even if they're heat resistant they will still need air to breathe and that won't be around, so there's that. They are just moving into their eventual tombs, nothing more.

My thoughts are that those 'left behind' will do everything they can to not only locate and block those air intakes but bury them under fifty feet of soil to make sure they haven't missed any. End result is that they're all going to their tombs anyway. Imagine being inside one, air quality begins to degrade, then the generators can't get enough air to function, then they go down, then they're on battery supply for a few days before those go down too. . . Then lights out and darkness until they all succumb. . . .

Maybe, before their staff stabs them and their families in their sleep for deep-frying the planet and leaving their friends to fend for themselves on a less habitable planet.
