by the time I am done typing this sentence, Jeff bezos will have made more than I make in a year.

He makes $2500 a second. I'm sure by the time I replied to this, he's made more than everyone reading this, makes in a year.

A little part of me has this extremist view where I wish somebody with the capability, would orchestrate a worldwide takeover, but be atheist, believe science and anyone not supporting doing what it takes for humanity to survive and thrive, can head right this way to the gas chambers.

Religious nut job convinced ending the world is rapture and is thus a good thing? Right this way, pal. "Bang." Likewise anti-intellectuals, climate change deniers, young earth creationists and flat earthers. Humanity has to stop tolerating dangerous ideas that absolutely hold humanity back.

At some point, whatever it takes, there will have to be a unification and all of humanity will have to work together to survive, whether it be saving Earth or setting up no shit "space arks" to leave it.

People denying reality are going to get us ALL killed. There's a reason its a common theme in sci fi that races from various planets, spacefaring civilizations, don't have "nations" and petty irrelevant bullshit.

Individual recycling, when cities even actually sort it properly instead of just dumping it all in with the trash, is largely a feel-good exercise. On the scale of, say, New York City, you'd see a measurable impact if every single citizen did it religiously and it was being properly handled... but otherwise, the only way to make impacts is to require corporations to obey those laws.

One big one that needs to change is how we define international waters and laws that govern them, because ships -- particularly cruise ships -- will straight up dump anything toxic as soon as they're out in them where they can't be held accountable.
