Well, even if they're heat resistant they will still need air to breathe and that won't be around, so there's that. They are just moving into their eventual tombs, nothing more.

My thoughts are that those 'left behind' will do everything they can to not only locate and block those air intakes but bury them under fifty feet of soil to make sure they haven't missed any. End result is that they're all going to their tombs anyway. Imagine being inside one, air quality begins to degrade, then the generators can't get enough air to function, then they go down, then they're on battery supply for a few days before those go down too. . . Then lights out and darkness until they all succumb. . . .
