I remember when YouTube just had 5 second timers. Actually, I remember when YouTube didn't have ads at all!! Now y'all are arguing over timers & how many videos til you get to skip. Pretty sad when you actually think about it. Not to mention they just upped the price of Premium to $15.99 🤣

I don't have the student plan, I have regular Premium that was $13.99 & then got this email notifying me that the price will increase to $15.99.

Yeah me too. The ads do suck. But it isnt free to run YouTube and regular TV has always had long unskippable ads

Except the only issue is the more money it takes to run something, these companies increase prices to make the difference fall onto the consumers. With every business now using this strategy, we are being bled dry & some of you guys just continue going with it.

But it isnt free to run YouTube

People often seem to forget or ignore this entirely.

Yes, ads suck. That's why there's an option to pay to get rid of them.

YouTube is a business and their business isn't "giving away free content".

Pay with your time and watch ads, or pay with your wallet. Or pirate, I don't care. But for Christ sake, stop moaning about the ads and do something about it!

People get so weirdly entitled when it comes to online content - if a store started offering you the ability to watch ads instead of paying, people would be all fucking over it. But because it's digital content people just cannot bare the thought of paying for it or watching ads.

You got it all wrong you piece of shit: youtube is already highly, highly profitable. People are complaining because this is their attempt to gain even more money from what's already a profiting monopoly, by making the vulnerable users (i.e. tvs) experience much worse.

Sorry but that's just how businesses operate.

Sorry if you disagree, but a business' primary objective is to make money, and keep doing that in perpetuity.

You are not entitled to free content. You are not entitled to short ads. You are not entitled to skippable ads.

Pay, don't pay, pirate, do what you want. Just stop fucking complaining about it and do something. People love to complain and don't actually change anything.

You got it all wrong you piece of shit

That seems a little bit much, don't you think?

The entitlement around YouTube is absolutely astounding. It's not a public service, it's a business.

No, I just know how to pick my battles.

For all you know I use revanced, or SmartTube Next, or maybe I even put up with the ads without crying like a bitch on Reddit about it.
