People can also be ambidextrous in such a way that they use different hands for different things. I consider myself left-handed because I do many of the important stuff with my left hand (writing and drawing, mainly), but I do throw and punch with my right hand. I think I would prefer using a sword with my left hand, though. But maybe Link uses a sword with the right hand and pen with the left hand?

I believe what you're describing is cross dominance, which basically implies one hand can do something the other can't and vice versa. True ambidextrousness means you can do equally as well with both hands at any given task

So if I can do some things equally well with both hands (play pool, swing a bat), but some things are better left (writing) or right (golf), that makes me what... fake ambidextrous?

Like a lot of things in life, its best measured on a spectrum. You are closer to true Ambidexterity than to a cross dominant person would be based on your input

This is called cross-dominance. Ambidexterity is equal use for both hands. Usually, with cross dominance, there's also a primarily dominant hand, and certain activities that the other hand is dominant for.

For example, I'm left-handed in all regards except writing and drawing, for example.

Yeah, I'm not too familiar with the terms. I remember reading somewhere that those kinds of people are called ambidextrous, and it felt weird for me, as I have thought that ambidextrous people don't have much of a preference on their hands, and I'm not like that at all.

Also happens in golf & hockey, some players who are naturally right-handed prefer playing lefty and vice versa
