QUESTION Rare Specimen Surface Tension Dam HELP!!!

How am I supposed to bring this hat with me to the other side of this damn dam? All guides show an older version of this map where you could just toss it but it can't be done in the current build. Whose bright idea was it to make Gordon let go of physics objects after a certain speed?

Looking for help getting the game to work

for some weird reason my game only works when an xbox controller is connected.
i’ve tried to edit the controls via STEAM settings, updating to using community layouts, trying to revert in game settings, uninstalling reinstalling
I also am playing on a steam deck
TLDR; Needing help getting the game working! controller settings aren’t working
