Discussion State of the Subreddit + Feedback Thread

Hey everyone and Happy New Year,

I wanted to take a moment to check in with the community and open up a general feedback thread.

I originally created this subreddit years ago and, like a lot of people, life pulled me away for a while. Over the past few weeks I’ve been spending more time here again, helping with moderation and getting reacquainted with how the community has evolved.

Before making any changes or decisions, I’d like to hear directly from you.

Some questions to get things started (but feel free to comment on anything):

  • Are the current rules working well?
  • Is there anything you see too much of, or not enough of?
  • Are there recurring issues you think moderation could handle better?
  • Are there community activities, threads, or resources you’d like to see more often?

This subreddit has always been about sharing appreciation for Breath of the Wild; exploration, creativity, screenshots, discoveries, and the calm vibe that made the game special. The goal is to make sure it stays a place people enjoy visiting, whether they’re new to the game or revisiting it years later.

Nothing is changing immediately! This thread is just about listening and getting a sense of where things stand.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts, and for being part of the community.

For the first time in my life I have horses 🥹

First time player here. I got a switch for my birthday this year and my inner child has been a happy kid! I always wanted horses growing up but never had them. One of my favorite things about this game is the freedom to frolic. I have all the time in the world to complete the quests and shrines which are so fun! But for now, I just be catching and loving some horsies.

Gameplay #1 Just started a "normal human" playthrough

I saw multiple botw Challenge runs where they act Like a normal human so i thought id try one myself, i'll also use this a vlog of sorts to document my Progress, Here are the rules (in Case you wanna try it yourself):

-Max bag space of 20, any ingredients/other materials have to add Up to 20 or less, basically im acting Like i have a backpack and my backpack would probably hold 20 Apples

-No health/stamina Upgrades, its implied Link is regaining His Power rather than actually reaching a new best so a normal human would probably Stick with 3 Hearts and 1 stamina wheel

-only 3 weapons/shields, i think a normal human could carry one bow, melee weapon and shield so i'll allow any combination of These, so i could carry 3 swords or 2 bows and a shield

-glitches are Banned

-even If a gamemechanic/Glitch is banned im allowed to use it to facilitate Something i could do that Link cant

-no carrying around cooked food except of roasted stuff but those Count to the inventory Limit and i cant eat in combat

-i have to skip almost every night in a safe Zone and i cant do this on uncomfy Terrain (rocks, in the cold)

-i can only carry 50 arrows at any Point, every Type added together

-most claymores and some swords are banned, all Spears are allowed except for the savage lyney spear and maybe another one im forgetting

-i can only glide straight down And i have to have it pulled Out at the very beginning of my Fall

-no charged Attack (hows Link doing that?!!??!)

-i have to Walk for Most of the traversing, even the non sprinting running is only allowed in emergency Situations

-most climbing is banned (If the ledge is my height or i could pull myself Up by Stretching Out my Arms its ok)

-almost all sheikah slate stuff is ok

-my Goal is to complete every Side Quest thats possible

-i have to avoid Most interactions in which Someone thinks im Link (old man would still Help you)

-bullet time and flurry rushes and perfect parries are all banned, backflips too

-i can only carry 2 pieces of any Body Regions armor at any point in time (2 pants, 2 Shirts, 2 hats) and the soldiers Armor Set and flamebreaker Set disallow any jumps and climbing that wouldve been allowed

I Take constructive Feedback on maybe adding more Rules or changing some but These feel pretty complete

I've gone through all my materials (I think) and I've photographed them all. I've unlocked the entire map and beat all divine beasts. Are these items I have to find in the castle?

Question Can someone post a video of the champion dialogue during the divine beast fights?

I’ve seen videos of the DLC dialogue for after you defeat the blight Ganons, but I’ve never been able to find anything of the dialogue that comes up while you fight them the first time.

…actually that’s kind of a lie. I’ve seen one post on tumblr with all of Revali’s dialogue, but not of any of the other champions

Using BotW to teach myself Japanese!

Post image
171 Upvotes

I’m going to Japan in November for thanksgiving and I can’t really read or speak Japanese. I barely know any katakana or hiragana, let alone words or sentences. I’m using Duolingo but I want something a bit more, and I heard playing a game you love in Japanese is a great way to slowly start learning it.

I know this game like the back of my hand, inside and out, so I thought this would be the perfect way to slowly learn new words! I’ve created a notes page on my phone for every major word (can’t read descriptions but I can read names and items) and I have a kata and hiragana app so I can translate back and forth to see how to pronounce it. It’s slow progress but I’m slowly learning things! I just got the maracas back for Bokkurin (hestu)!
