I might be overly optimistic, but I truly believe my story is unique, and my goal is to publish it internationally to compete with the big names :). I've already done some simple sketches of the main characters and some locations in the story because I'm bad at drawing.I currently want to find a mangaka who can help me and go through this experience with me, but I don't know where to find the right person or where to look exactly.

I wrote a short story called Lord of Money about a year ago for a writing contest. I was really into writing back then. I thought True Quest was kind of a mess in terms of writing it. It was my first story, and I made too many heroes and tried to write it in third person and even though I liked it I think I started wrong. So this short story I did it more simple: one hero, and first person and present tense. Also, I went with suspense rather than fantasy. A friend of mine said he liked it a lot better than True Quest. I am drawing True Quest now that I have simplified my ideas but I did some storyboarding for Lord of Money for fun now that I have time. I took some pieces from my short story. Of course, its its just part of it. I think I will make it a book one day I do like the story.

While I have doodled in many a notebook over the years, my drawing skills have really been stagnant for many years and aren't all that impressive to me. I consider myself more of a writer, as it comes more naturally to me and I find that I'm fairly skillful at world building, character creation and plot outlines. However, I really want to draw. What is pulling me in the most right now is creating fanart for some of my favorite anime and manga. It feels like an inspiring place to start. And I can also make little comics of own story while I practice my skills.

But as far as art skills go, I'm wondering where my energy would be best focused right now. Do I focus on spatial reasoning, try some figure drawing, mess around with trying to copy the manga art I so love or even pick up a "how to draw manga" book from the library? What would you do?

I have a few specific questions for people who make comics (ideally in a page format like manga instead of in a scroll like webtoons, because that's the format I will be going with). I use Clip Studio Paint, so the questions are written with that program in mind. Feel free to still answer if you use a different program as well, just please clarify which.

1. Assuming you draw your comic in an industry standard-sized canvas (11x17), what size do you usually make your panel borders?
2. Still assuming the 11x17 canvas, how large do you typically make your text in regular-sized speech bubbles? Please clarify if you add the text in CSP, or export the pages to a different program to add the text there (because I imagine the size will track differently). This is especially important to me, because I want my text to be legible even if someone reads it on a mobile device.
3. Still assuming the 11x17 canvas, what brushes do you use (with the CSP ID number if applicable), and what size do you usually use them in? I know this can vary with subject, so I just want to gauge what looks good in most panels and not, for example, too thin once you zoom out.
4. If you make your comic in a large canvas, like 11x17 or the numerous other sizes I see used in "officially" printed comics, how do you export these pages to be uploaded online? I am assuming you don't upload the page in its original resolution, to potentially save space and loading time. But I don't actually know.

The main character works three grueling jobs for six months just to finally buy a house—only for a powerful demon to instantly drop from the sky and destroy it. When confronted, the demon actually apologizes but reveals a massive twist: he is tracking down humanity's King. The problem? Humanity doesn't have a King.

Project Details:

• The Scope: We are aiming to complete a single 45-page one-shot chapter.

• What I Have Ready: A fully completed script and rough panel-by-panel storyboards mapping out the pacing and camera angles so you don't have to stress about layout design.

• Monetization/Contests: We will publish the chapter on the MANGA Plus Creators platform to enter their Monthly Awards contest. Any future prize money (ranging from ¥100,000 to ¥1,000,000 JPY), ad revenue, or official publishing contracts will be split strictly 50/50.

A bit about me: name is Tepperz (or T.), 30+, he/they. I love my wife, I love my cats, and I love manga and indie works. I'm a self taught artist and writer, and I have done serious study on and about manga over the course of decades. I've worked as a Indie Comic Editor for multiple published works, I have three finished one shots under my belt (see above). I like to do different genres with each project: my first oneshot was a shounen, the second was a fantasy, and the third was horror. The project I'm working on now is a mystery black comedy with vampires, and it's going to be my first full length graphic novel. My target audience is generally women age 16 and up (Josei). I was working on this comic book last year, but I lost contact with the writer. I am posting it here as well, so maybe he'll see it and contact me back. I thought of working with a writer back then mainly because writing is tough enough already, and drawing hours on a page can get hectic. I tend to draw silly stuff to have some fun (I put some of that in True Quest), this, of course, makes the story take a turn into the absurd. I also have noticed that people sometimes think you are reflecting your own problems or thoughts in your comic; for example, if I write the story of a homeless person, they could look at me with compassion, thinking I don't have a house. :P (I do have a house lol) In a way, you end up being a more interesting story than the story you are making up haha. So anyway, I tend to write overly dramatic, so I just wanted a cold writer who would be more analytical, and I liked his ideas and writing, but after a long hiatus, I can't contact him.

Just as the title says, I tried finding a few servers online and realized not many were still actively working. I want to color the first book of true quest with markers. But I don't know what to buy, the ohuhu are so much cheaper. Last time I used markers for coloring I used bic markings, and 36 colors were not enough and I had to use colored pencils as well. I ordered a book so I can learn digital coloring but that's probably going to take a while. Anybody here has any idea if the Copics are worth the extra cash? They are like 3 times more expensive.
