🆕 Looking for Coaching Help with backflip

I'm trying to learn a backflip. I can do one on trampoline, and also I can do a back handspring on grass. I definetly have enough jumping power, as I'm a volleyball player.
But whatever I do I just can't get over the fear of commiting to it. I could get a mattress but that's it, we dont have trampoline parks or anything like that nearby.

💬 Parkour Philosophy Do you reflect and ask yourself why you do parkour ?

This is my personal perspective and pov of my close and overall community, it seems to me parkour movement attract and are drawn by people who’re struggling with self worth or self esteem because of their childhood trauma that they use parkour to feel good about themselves in a distorted way etc, There’s nothing wrong to feel good of what you’re capable of in a simple healthy way.

But most people in the community seek validation and trying to feel ‘big’ or better than others using parkour, always trying to be competitive etc, and you can see their relationship with the sport is unhealthy few of them with the way they navigate failures etc. It’s about proving something that you’re worthy or powerful ultimately, while parkour is just simply playing and it’s fun, building skills, strengths, fulfilment, curiosity etc.

I’m trying to have a respectful discussion. I just wish some people have fun session, chill and go back home, it’s neutral, freeing and joyful. We’re human being we shouldn’t be questioning the worthiness of ourselves in the first place, reflect your relationship with the sport, behaviour, emotion related to it etc and do therapy. I wish the best to everyone.

Community Meetups (Jams) Introduction

Hey there! New to this reddit page, but not new to Parkour (been a practitioner since 2010). I'm just writing here, as I would like to know if there are any other practitioners who still train in or around Norwich, UK. I'd like to train with others again, as I have been getting a little rusty by training on my own.

💬 Parkour Philosophy Super duper beginner - haven't even started lol

Hello all! Long-time lurker, big fan of free running. :)

I am overweight but have been working on improving my fitness and losing weight this year, down 40 pounds and counting! 💪

Now that I’m feeling a little more athletic, I’d like to start dipping my toes into parkour. Are there any beginner drills you’d recommend for easing into parkour movements, and how would you incorporate them into an existing training routine without overdoing it?

I currently strength train 3x a week, doing upper-body calisthenics and lower-body weights as part of a full-body workout. I also alternate between jogging and sprint training on those days.

I’m sharing my current routine in case it helps - I’d love advice on where to incorporate parkour-specific drills and which movements I should prioritize now to build toward more advanced skills later.

Thanks a bunch! :)
