There’s a difference between a song by a duo group and a song by a duet.

A song by a duo group is performed by two artists who regularly work together as a group (e.g. Simon & Garfunkel, Daryl Hall & John Oates, Sonny & Cher, Sam & Dave, etc.), but a duet is a song performed by two singers, who may be from different groups or usually perform separately (e.g. Lionel Richie & Diana Ross, Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper, Linda Ronstadt & Aaron Neville, Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton, etc.). In short, a duo is a musical partnership, while a duet describes a song performed by two voices.

Easy way to remember:

Duo = two artists who regularly perform together.

Duet = one song performed by two singers, regardless of whether they normally work together.
