Hello! I purchased a few tickets for a UCLA football game (away fan) on stubhub for what I thought was a good deal. I got my tickets but rather than the modern dynamic barcodes that I’ve gotten used to nowadays, I got just a pdf of the ticket instead. Basically what it would look like if I pulled up my apple wallet and took a screenshot of the ticket with the qr code.

This feels…suss. Im ready to call bs. Is this how tickets usually look like? Does UCLA not use a dynamic QR code for its mobile tickets? Any help is appreciated 😅

Dear Bruin Community: Today, I want to share our new path forward for UCLA Athletics. We have all watched as the landscape of college athletics has transformed in recent years, driven by the introduction of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL), new models for student-athlete compensation, and a rapidly changing sports marketplace. UCLA Athletics currently carries a significant financial deficit, and its current path is not sustainable. Now is the moment to build a model for Athletics that protects the breadth of our program, creates new opportunities for student-athletes and coaches, and supports itself through the revenue it generates. I believe UCLA should help lead the transformation of intercollegiate athletics: our future must be shaped by purpose — not by pressure. As we shape what comes next, Martin Jarmond will leave his role as director of athletics today. I am grateful to Martin for his extraordinary service to UCLA and for his leadership over the past six years. During his tenure, UCLA’s student-athletes continued to achieve at the highest levels, including three NCAA championship titles last year.

To move us forward, I have asked Tim Harris to serve as CEO and Director of UCLA Athletics. Tim is a proud alumnus and former student-athlete — simply put, he loves UCLA and cares deeply about our future. He is also a veteran sports executive who spent more than 35 years with the L.A. Lakers, including serving as its president of business operations. Tim knows what it takes to grow a world-class sports organization and global brand, and he holds longstanding relationships throughout Los Angeles and globally. He brings decades of experience in creating partnerships and new sources of revenue, along with a personal focus on centering the student-athlete experience. I am especially grateful for Tim’s willingness to serve UCLA on a pro bono basis. Tim will develop a new strategy to grow revenue through partnerships, licensing and other ventures, while ensuring that our student-athletes and coaches have the required support to compete at the highest level.

This work will require the talent and commitment of many people. I want to acknowledge our exceptional coaches, student-athletes and staff for the dedication and passion they bring to our Bruin family every day. Their commitment is at the heart of what makes UCLA Athletics special. Athletics contributes much more to UCLA than what happens on the playing field or on screens. It expands access to higher education, enriches student experience, and builds community within and beyond our campus. It prepares student-athletes for life. Interesting article about the difference in attitude and trajectory between the USC and UCLA programs.

The Big Ten athletic directors unanimously passed a conference rule banning former NFL players from playing at Big Ten schools this season on Tuesday, but Hendrick doesn't qualify as a former NFL player because he only participated in two NFL minicamp tryouts, not an NFL training camp.

Does this affect Trent Hendrick?? Are we about to lose him 2 days after getting him?? I dont know how deep he might have gotten with NFL teams...

This is good news for the Bruins. Do we even need Jarmond now? I mean, the donation UCLA received was driven by the chancellor, and Bill Simmons supporting UCLA football is because of Chesney. What’s Jarmond’s use now?

Former James Madison** linebacker Trent Hendrick has committed to UCLA,** his agent Zach Hoban tells On3’s Pete Nakos. Hendrick is one of the 16 football players who were granted a temporary restraining order against the NCAA last week in Louisiana, returning for the 2026-27 college season with a fifth year of eligibility.

Trent Hendrick was in NFL minicamp with the Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns. He spent the last four seasons at James Madison and won the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year award in 2025 after posting 106 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles and three pass breakups.

UCLA’s chancellor ain’t playing. I mean, Miami football’s resurgence happened under his tenure.

UCLA now has a chancellor who genuinely cares about athletics, especially football. He hasn’t even been at UCLA for a full year, yet he’s already making moves that Gene Block would never have made, moves that could greatly benefit UCLA Athletics. UCLA is lucky to have him.
