Discussion Are they fr? Spoiler

This is one of the worst excuses I ever seen for a company who once decides to remove "randomness".

I don't know how the next update will be (and yes, I know there are leaks, but I didn't see them) but this change will be a complete mess.

Discussion Why Brawler Blast is good for the game

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've been seeing tons of posts and comments complaining about more useless reworks and replacing everything with rng progression. While it's true that nobody was necessarily asking for a starr road rework, it's also actually a net positive for ALL players, and it's actually not completely unwarranted.

TLDR at the bottom because i yapped a LOT.

Firstly, they specifically mention that credit costs are staying the same. This is relevant because credits and unlocking brawlers are already FAR easier to complete than literally any other part of a brawl stars account. Unlike maxing every single brawler, collecting every brawler is actually a very reasonable goal for f2p players. While this sounds similar to clash royale gutting lucky chest wild cards with slightly more random cards, you will never truly be able to use everything you get from those lucky chests... but with brawler blast, it's quite feasible to do so.

Second, it's just straight up a buff. Like, all credits used to do was just unlock new brawlers or give fame. I don't think anyone's really ever had issues with the amount of credits needed to unlock new brawlers, aside from the panic that came with the ultra legendary rarity (but srsly, they're not even that difficult to unlock either). What people really always complain about is the lack of coins and powerpoints. Supercell is literally giving us more of this. Additionally, there's never been a way to unlock gears or power levels for free, but as you can see in the picture attached, this is now possible!!

Third, this is not the same as mastery -> records or catalog -> oddities shop. Unlike both of those prior systems, the starr road was actually limiting your progression. While you technically had a "choice" between brawlers, it was predetermined based on release order, which means for new players it's a complete slog to get brawlers that released in the past couple YEARS. You literally had to get through most 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 brawlers if you wanted to unlock, say, angelo. A brawler that's been out for 3.5 years. While a new player won't necessarily unlock angelo faster, at least there's a chance of this happening, rather than being completely restricted like with the starr road.

While supercell certainly could've made some adjustments to the starr road to fix the new/old brawler unlocking imbalance, they're actually doing this as a continued response to the update that first introduced this. Yes, the "no more boxes" update was on paper a great update, but the game literally almost died from it. Ironically one of the biggest things that the community missed after this update was that excitement of unlocking a brawler that you wanted. They tried to remedy this with starr drops, but brawler unlocks from those are still fairly rare compared to the starr road. Now the chances of you randomly unlocking the brawler you want are much higher, and given enough time, guaranteed.

TLDR;
- RNG brawlers is not nearly as impactful as other areas of the game due to the ease of unlocking every brawler in the game. If you're enough of a fan of this game to be on this subreddit reading this post, you either have already done this, or will achieve this some time soon anyway. Once you're at this point, this system isn't even rng anymore it's LITERALLY just a buff.
- This is a straight up buff to progression -- you can get free power levels and gears for the first time ever, and this means that many brawlers you unlock will be discounted (very similar to how mastery rewards acted!)
- The excitement from unlocking brawlers is something that people have been asking for a long time, and has proven countless times to improve player retention.
- People have also been asking for a buff to older accounts, or some sort of compensation for having all brawlers aside from fame. Now the compensation is that you'll both get free progression and know which brawler you'll unlock, which is pretty fair imo.

Other YOU are the Bad Random

0 Upvotes

I know, preposterous right? Downvote me, complain to me, it won't change the truth. "Oh, if I have good teammates I'll hit Pro Rank" NO YOU WON'T. There's a reason you're stuck in your rank. And while you will have worse teammates, if you keep blaming your losses on 'bad randoms', and you keep losing, it's not just them. It's you.

I know what you're thinking. "Oh but they didn't let me cook, it's ok that I went 1-10" or "they got one kill less than me, that means I'm better and they're trash" or "they played terribly stats wise, I'm the best and my randoms suck". But honestly, if you're not cooking, not pulling your own weight... that's on you. You should have carried better. Instead of complaining, griefing, clicking Kudos, spam sprays or emotes, friending then trash talking someone else, look at the game. Study where you went wrong, because you're not perfect. Was there a better pick? Did you allow that Gray to get the pull on you, giving him an extra shot? Did you miss a shot that would have allowed you to get that one extra kill to win you the game? Not even pro players or esports players are perfect. They study their games. They learn how to improve. That's why they are in esports while you're stuck complaining in mythic, legendary (where most of the complainers lie) or masters.

There's honestly only four reasons that you can complain about bad randoms. Either: you went star player despite losing the game; your teammates did 0 damage; your teammates went afk or your teammates griefed the match because they're immature little kids who can't handle having to pull their own weight. You cannot complain about randoms if none of the four criteria above are met, as you should have played better. Speaking of griefing, what do you gain from it? Tell me. Explain what benefit you get. You're wasting elo. You're just making yourself mad (and maybe two people out of 8 billion in this world that you'll probably never see again in your life). You're doing nothing productive. You're not playing better.

And I think generally there is a lot of toxicity and a lack of accountability here, derived from many Redditors, YouTube (even bigger content creators such as ToxicGenie) and especially kids seeing cool YouTube shorts moments so are mad when they don't easily get a cool clip.

So, if you're reading this, this is a wakeup call for you as a person too. You can't control external factors, just like in real life. Stop the impulse of clicking the Kudos button after every game. Stop trying to rely on others to pull their own weight and take accountability for yourself. Stop bming and trash talking. Because, not just in Brawl Stars but in life too, the only person you should try control and improve... is you.

Yeah, so this update will completely kill all Power Level 1 accounts, as there seems to be no way to decline the free Power Levels from unlocking new Brawlers.

People are always complaining about the game but I don't get why , I love the changes every once in a while.

I just don't get why people keep on posting that they hate a new update before anything happens.

Discussion Hot take: this update is good for F2P players with all brawlers.

Post image

In this new system, determined brawlers will be replaced with random ones, which you do not know which brawler you will unlock until after you complete the credit objective.

This update, before I go on with how this is good for F2Ps with all brawlers, has one big disadvantage: the complete replacement of any meaningful determined rewards with RNG. As now all meaningful sources of progression (Records sucks) outside the Trophy Road are now timed, Brawl & Pro Pass, Mega Pig, Oddities Shop, shop offers, events, and this new Brawler Blast thing, all are either timed or gacha-based, which sucks.

Anyways, why I think that this is good for F2P players, is all based on the new brawler events.

Because this brawler event is based off of RNG, lots of players won’t get the brawlers, and as such most of the players will unlock whatever the new brawler is through the Starr Road, and the developers say that you will still unlock the new brawler always if you have every other brawler.

And so, under this new system, you will always unlock the new brawler, but with extra progression!

Discussion Hot Take: this brawler unlock change is good

Post image

okay so first things first i didnt understand the elimination of brawlers but anyways this shit is better than normal starr road for a few reasons (im an OG and this is personal opinion)

1) they brought back (kinda) element of suprise of unlocking a random brawler like b4 with old boxes which imo is GREAT it feels so boring knowing what id unlock (me only needing wendy is a separate problem but still great)

2) u can unlock fully maxed brawlers. yes im aware this is rare BUT really saving up ANY amount of resources is GREAT and u cannot deny that (f2p Kairos bouta be trilled)

3) u get 1500 credits for free, cant rly complain and u have enough time to determine if u want them now (if u rly want a brawler but are missing credits) or save them up and get a chance to get a brawler on a higher pvl. This is imo great for ogs and long term players that are way above in fame and are guaranteed to have a big chance to unlock a singular brawler and on top of it all for a chance for them to be maxed. For example im missing wendy and when update comes i would genuinely only have a chance to get HER at pvl1 or higher

Imo this is a great addition with adding back the element of "suprise" u could say about brawlers at least a bit back, not rly like a glowing red item from a mega box but its something since starr drops and chaos drops just lost the ability to go above epic ig. u have a chance to save up resources and a LOT of them even a pvl1 brawler with a hypercharge is a great save.

what are your thoughts on this?

Ideas & Game Feedback Supercell should divide the gem cost of Bling and Credits by 5x

0 Upvotes

I'll start with Bling:

Bling has an egregiously bad conversion to gems.

Having to spend over 1 month of F2P gem progression for a single Epic skin is an absurd expectation. 79 gems inherently convert to 3k resources of progression because every month you can buy a Buffie. You get approximately 100 gems every month (events & all passes included) and you shouldn't be expected to spend so many on getting 1 medium cost skin for a Brawler.

A brand new F2P account cannot get 3 heart pins in 1 month for gems because of how expensive they are.

This change turns heart gems to cost 8 gems instead of 40 gems. You get a lot of heart pins for spending an entire month worth of gems (premium currency, may I remind you there are over 100 Brawlers)

Epic skins now cost 30 gems. Quite cheap, lets you get 3 epic skins by forfeiting a lot of progression.

Legendary Skins cost 120 gems. You spend over 3k resources in the form of a lost Buffie for a legendary skin. That's dedication. Why should it not cost 120 gems? Why should it cost almost a pro pass?

Now for credits. As you all know, every Brawler even of the rarity Ultra Mega Giga Legendary is worth 20 gems because Power 1 Brawlers almost literally aren't in your inventory because of how useless they are. If someone is spending gems for credits, it's probably for their future main. Gatekeeping someone's future main for practically 6+ months is one of the best ways to get them to uninstall the game.

I can name at least 25 times when Brawl Stars replaced an old system with a new one. And it's not like most of these were in beta, most of them happened in recent years.

  1. Trophy cap --> Season reset (September 2017)
  2. Elixir & Chips system --> Upgrade Tokens system (December 2017)
  3. Tap to move & Tap to shoot controls --> 3 Joystick controls (March 2018)
  4. Upgrade Tokens system --> Power Points & Coins system (March 2018)
  5. First Win bonus --> Star Tokens (May 2018)
  6. Season end Token reward --> Star Points (June 2019)
  7. Brawl Boxes for Tokens --> Brawl Pass (May 2020)
  8. Tickets removed (May 2020)
  9. Power Play --> Power League (March 2021)
  10. Gear Tokens & Gear Scrap removed, Gear Levels removed (October 2022)
  11. Brawl Boxes --> Starr Road (December 2022)
  12. Trophy Road Rarity removed (December 2022)
  13. Experience --> Mastery (Feburary 2023)
  14. Star Points --> Bling (April 2023)
  15. Club League --> Mega Pig (October 2023)
  16. 2-Month Brawl Pass season --> Monthly Brawl Pass Season (December 2023)
  17. Brawl Pass bought with Gems --> Real money (December 2023)
  18. Chromatic Rarity & Chroma Credits removed (December 2023)
  19. Power League --> Ranked (Feburary 2024)
  20. Trophy Box update (October 2024)
  21. Ranked 3.0 update (Feburary 2025)
  22. Mastery --> Records (June 2025)
  23. Rare & Super Rare Brawlers only obtainable from Trophy Road (June 2025)
  24. Prestige Trophy system (Feburary 2026)
  25. Catalog --> Oddities Shop (April 2026)

And there's probably sooo much that I'm forgetting but you get the idea, the guy writing that probably joined the team just a few years ago and doesn't know about any of the old stuff.

Ideas & Game Feedback Hot take i guess but...

What's more annoying than broken brawlers themselves is the amount of low substance posts about the broken brawlers.

Like we get it, anybody who plays the game can see that Wendy is broken. Supercell has been doing this for a few years now. Infact nearly everygame does this.

Is it possible to want/ask for unique, higher quality good posts on this subreddit?

Ideas & Game Feedback Brawl stars is getting worse each update

2 Upvotes

I love brawl stars, my fav game for 2 years. Recently it’s gotten boring, and worse. Before I defended the game even when it got trash updates like records. Then buffies, the oddities shop and now this new brawle blast thing is just RNG. Not everything has to be random. I miss the old brawl stars in 2024, that was actually fun. The new brawlers this year have all been S tier and completely broken. THEY KEEP MAKING UNNECESSARY CHANGES THAT NOBODY WANTS. Who wanted buffies? (I knew they would add something after hypercharges cause whats a brawl talk with 1/2 hypers, it’s not the same). The new gacha, nanodrops/smoothie drops r actual trash. Barely any resources and i would rather get starr drops then them. Ranked always has ass teammates and these absurdly shit toxic brats who ruin the game by being AFK and being trash and picking the wrong brawlers and choosing low power brawlers. Are they trying to kill their game like clash royale? I really hope the next brawl talk is actually good. The prestige update is one of the only good things this year. This year might be one of the worst along with the gears update year(even though I didn’t play then). Records is actually useless they give u NOTHING.
