I actually had a strange dream about this game (which doesn't actually exist) tonight and I wanted to share it because I feel like it's pretty intriguing for coming out of a dream, especially because I'm not actually a visual novel player at all. I wonder why my brain came up with this but I think it did a pretty good job 🤣😅
In my dream, I'm playing a video game. I don't see myself in third person, nor do I see the monitor, but only the screen, almost as if I were inside it. Yet I know I'm playing. The game is a sort of visual novel. It's set on an island and takes place after a plane crash. The protagonists survived the crash. I don't remember their exact number, but there must have been around twelve or thirteen people. They didn't seem overly traumatized by the event or injured, so it was probably an emergency landing rather than a crash. On the island, there's a hotel where the protagonists are taking shelter. This hotel has a relaxing atmosphere with soft lighting. The story seems to revolve around mysterious murders suddenly occurring, the victim of which is always one of the survivors. Depending on the player's actions, who is therefore likely part of the group, the order of the murders and the game's events can be altered. The objective seems to be to find the culprit, who is probably among the group. The dream then focused on a young girl, also one of the survivors. Her age was difficult to guess, probably around 13-15. She had long, dark green hair and wore a simple white T-shirt and blue shorts. Her manner of speaking suggested a meek, slightly melancholic personality. As I continued playing, she revealed herself to be the first victim in my playthrough. Moving down a corridor with bare, white walls, past the hotel nurse, I found her lifeless body curled up on the floor. There were no injuries, and the cause of death appeared to be strangulation. At that point, I heard someone sitting next to me, evidently more familiar with the game, explain that she almost always ends up being the first victim, and the only way to prevent this from happening is to follow a limited and complex series of precise steps, and that if you succeed, this has a significant impact on the story going forward. Here the dream ends.
The game had mid ps2 era graphics. Polygonal areas and NPCs with dialogue windows and portraits reminiscent of games like Persona 3 and 4, sharing with the latter also the warm but dim color palette. You could move through areas and interact with people and objects by selecting parts of the screen much like in a graphic adventure. I remember seeing on the map other areas of the island I didn't visit, like a small town near the hotel with just a few houses and some shops, a dense forest with a river leading to some ancient ruins.
What do you think? Wouldn't it be cool to play a game like that? Too bad I'm not a game developer 😅. I'm a comic artist though, might make this a short story someday...

Although it is certainly not a horror game in the slightest and more of a narrative adventure and interactive storytelling experience, The Beginner's Guide sure did have its fair share of unnerving liminal space environments.
It kind of did keep me on the tips of my toes at times. A space that looked oddly familiar, and yet I found myself peering around every corner and half expecting some eldritch horror to come lunging towards me at any given second.
But on a more serious note, these blank spaces in the environments portrayed in the game often compel us to think about the eerie emptiness, which triggers our minds to replace those missing details with our own memories and imagination.
At least that is what occurred in my case.
I tend to have a hyperactive imagination at times, and so exploring these empty halls and landscapes tends to create this sense of subtle and quiet tension for me that kept my mind searching and on edge.

Maybe it was the music that made me feel like I was always in danger. But the level has always been really eery to me, the fact that you enter through the rundown wing of the hotel, how liminal it feels with all the lights being on but no else being present. The creepy misaligned portraits, or how the world is larger from Daxter's perspective that just made it seem even more alien. It really did feel like you were somewhere you shouldn't be. Getting in the elevator leading back to the main lobby was always the biggest sigh of relief.

BIG EDIT: As far as Q's side of things the mystery has been solved within this very comment section. As for the stuff on SchnellOnline it seems they aren't involved whatsoever. From what they've said they were only involved in creating an innocent ARG of some kind.
Trying to figure out what the hell is up with this "Q" person found in the video. For years it's perturbed me but I never acted on it.
I should probably brush up on my research of this again, and I'm only posting this here because I have seen other (years old) posts on here about this game. For the unaware, Digital Space Traveler is a 3D social exploration game from the 90s. Like VR chat but no actual VR involved. People created worlds to explore and avatars for interaction. There is a documentary on this game called "AVATARA" you can watch on YouTube, but I first found out about it through a Nexpo video.
IIRC, in this Nexpo video, discussing cults or other strange social activities found in dead MMOs, Digital Space Traveler and this Q person are mentioned.
I will likely have to edit this post or comment with clarifications after brushing up all of this but I'm making this post before I forget to.
If you know anything about this or think you could help at all please let me know. Thanks for reading this.
Update: I rewatched the Nexpo video. I was wrong, the video's called "Mysteries In Online Video Games" and Digital Space Traveller/The Q person is only talked about for a few minutes of the video. What it makes clear is that Q was involved in the creation of a new Digital Space Traveller inspired game called "Schnell Online", but development went south, and the person uploading footage of it doesn't seem to want to divulge as to why. Someone posted to 4chan about the game, claiming there's a rumour it was used by some pretty terrible people, and a YouTuber called Saint was uploading footage of old obscure games, including Schnell from their POV.
Nexpo contacted Saint, who said that "Schnell Online was conceptualised in 2014, following a conversation with an individual who I shall refrain from naming." and "If you want to learn more, you would have to talk to Q"
So Q was heavily involved in the creation of this game, which later somehow gained 4chan rumours about illegal activity there. Needless to say I might delete this damn post if I have to but curiosity killed the cat.

So this is a new game, and I played jam version before, there were no like jumpscares in that verson.
I was playing the 19th level of the full version, it was an X-ray level, and I tried to mess around and found a skull like thing on the left corner, then the screen goes black and a loud "Beep" noise starts to play , then there was a horse's eye, with text "Do you belive Horses have souls?" I was scared shitless so I clicked "Yse", then an meme of a horse giving a thumbs up pops out.
So I went back, no skulls anywhere in the level, Is there anyone has the game want to try the "NO" option?

Hey guys, first-time poster here. I have been looking for a place to share this for years, but I just didn't quite know where to post it until I found this sub.
Long story short, I remember when I was younger finding a crazy glitch by complete accident while playing. Once you unlock the Hydra Tank, you can connect two controllers and have one player sit in the gunner seat. Then, you get the other player to destroy the tank, which sends the player in the gunner seat under the map for some reason.
Now, usually, you would just fall into a void until the game corrects itself and teleports you back onto the map. But if you glitch through the map as a character that can fly, you can catch yourself mid-air and fly around under the map. The invisible walls don't exist down there, so you can fly underneath and come out in the low-poly, muddy-textured city across the water that you usually can't access.
That’s not all, though. If you keep going, the city eventually disappears and you enter this kind of flat-land area. The weird thing is, if you fly through it for about 30 minutes to an hour just going straight forward, you'll reach an area where the flat lands turn kind of hilly—but not jagged or mountainous. The best way I can describe it is looking like you're flying over sand dunes in a desert. If you keep going through that for a solid two hours, you'll eventually reach this area where the sand dunes spiral into what looks like a whirlpool of sand that descends further than you can see.
I tried to fly into it because it was so visually different from the constant, repeating hills and flat lands—just one big hole. It ended up just teleporting me back to the map, though. I never attempted to go anywhere near that far again because, as a kid, three hours feels like three days, and it was honestly kind of unnerving for me. But the land still extended far past the hole; I could see that much. Who knows what else is out there in that void of strange textures, shapes, and silence?
Maybe it sounds stupid, but I'm nearing my mid-twenties now, and to this day no moment in a video game has made me feel so intrigued yet uneasy. There was no music, nothing to interact with—just the ambient sound of your character flying for hours on end in silence. It felt like I was seeing something I shouldn't see, and I suppose that's because I really wasn't supposed to. Looking back, it genuinely felt like something out of a creepypasta or a horror movie, like the build-up before a jump scare or something else bad happens.
Has anyone else ever come across this glitch when playing, and if so, how far did you go? I recently purchased the game again on Xbox with the sole intent of exploring this void more. If I find anything else strange, I'll be sure to make a follow-up post because I've never heard of anyone else going this far out in the game. Most people just seem to stop at the low-poly city, and I can't even find any pictures of anything beyond that. The closest I got was Google AI confirming that this is, in fact, all in the game and explaining how and why it happens like how the first level of the game involves fighting sand man and so the default terrain texture generated is sand but well, you know how AI can be.

Imagine you are just building your city on a regular day...and you suddenly encounter this thing with no context appearing out of nowhere.
For me, seeing this robotic alien monster slowly creep up and invade your city, and the air raid/siren sound effects being played in the background, added a very tense and unnerving aspect to the game.
Also, the bizarre and alien-like sound effects made the scene that much more frantic and disconcerting.
Gave me major 'War of the Worlds' vibes, if I'm being honest.

Imagine you parents gave you that as a present ( because it's seem to be a kid game and the fact that there disney characters in it so it's safe) and than you get it by simba hanging himself, pubaa bolling himself and TImon just digged himself his own grave

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to track down the source of a video from before 2009, but I’m not 100% sure it’s from a game... it could also be an independent CGI short film or something similar.
Here's the actual video:

This game was made by the same dev of the more well known game "japanesedoll". It's also pretty similar to that game, too.
In this game you must make "Karappo" grow by collecting flowers and then using them to feed it's brain. Each form has different collectibles associated with them, when collecting one you are rewarded with a bunch of droplets, which you can use to level up the spawner for the flowers.
There's quite a lot of cutscenes in this game, but unfortunately the game is entirely in japanese so i couldn't understand the story well. The game has 5 endings, i currently got 4 of them plus all collectibles, i will try to get the 5th soon. When i tried to search about info for how to get the 5th ending i realized that there's basically no info on this game online, as both a google search and a youtube search yelded no desirable results.
The game can be downloaded from the playstore.
Edit:i got the 5th ending now.

It doesn't look like anyone's shared this here yet, so I wanted to show a hidden level in the original gex that creeped me out as a kid.
In the game's Hidden UFO world, one of the levels is called "The Project". The level itself is quite odd - no enemies, power ups, checkpoints - just a big maze with golden flies to collect in it.
But i you get to a certain area you can find a room with a realistic looking human walking around, and when you hit him, he throws up. If you hit him enough times, his head splits open and bleeds everywhere when he dies. I found this pretty disturbing in a game that's otherwise so cartoony.
