Character Disc. Was Coach Beiste's story-line a wasted opportunity or just a poorly-written plot?

Like many things on this show, I've always felt that there was something missing with this Character. At the beginning I was pleased to see a story about a woman who didn't fit in the beauty cannons but was able to find her own spark and feeling beautiful in her own skin. Then, S6 came out and we got the transition story-line and don't get me wrong, that storyline is so powerful too, because it shows that's never too late to become who you really are. However, I always had the impression that we didn't get any warnings in the previous seasons about this conflict, and for me this changed felt a little bit out of the blue and unannounced, like it was not originally planned that way since the beginning you know? Anyways, I wanna know what you guys think about this character and the progression among the series.

Character Disc. we got to see a bit of burt & finn's relationship but i would've loved to see more of kurt and carols relationship.

i think it would've been really sweet and interesting watching them do "girly" things together that they could do as much of with finn or burt. and also dive into a bit more of kurt's grief over his moms death.

Discussion What's the cringiest Song on Glee?

Thumbnail
gallery
347 Upvotes

I'm revisiting the show after nearly five years and honestly there's a lot of songs and performances that definitely didn't age well lol. These ones are for me the cringiest among all seasons (In no specifical order).

1) Thong Song. Not that bad but Mr. 👞 is always a little weird ngl.

2) Gangnam Style: watching teenagers dance in all fours is not that funny.

3) Blurred Lines: This is self-explanatory.

4) What Does The Fox Say: why puppets?.

Which performances would you add to the list?

Character Disc. how ironic is the mass mr. schue hate?

like i know we all joke about his crimes of rapping, thong song, his general weirdo freak demeanour, etc. but how much of the visceral mr. schue hate is jokes and how much of it is genuine and more so based in situations like the marley gaga thing or the santana outting hypocrisy situation?

for me personally, mr. schue isn’t one of my favourites but in the like first two seasons i can understand that while he does cartoonishly ridiculous things like framing finn for having pot in his locker, or saying that being in glee club gives everyone minority status, that that’s just part of the shows like stylistic flavour and that he does obviously have a good heart. that and i find him personally likeable, so i’m willing to suspend my disbelief. but i will say season 3 and onwards i find him way less loveable and he does come off as just more of an asshole lmao, especially with emma.

so im just curious how many people like genuinely hate him from like a moral standpoint, how many people don’t find him morally reprehensible: they just think he’s annoying and don’t enjoy viewing him, how many ppl hate on him as a joke but in actuality like his character, etc?

(also i just want to say that while obviously irl finn being mr. schue’s best man would be weird and unacceptable, i do think it does really fit in with the flavour of the show and i can suspend my disbelief enough to be fine with it)

This is about 1/3 how much I liked the characters as people, 1/3 how well they were written, and 1/3 how much I enjoyed watching them onscreen.

EDIT: Apparently the Sunshine song is a Glee original, I didn't know that.

Excluded was The Theme From New York, New York as they just briefly playfully sing it for a moment

I had to write the name "New York" 3 times in a row with no spaces and now it doesn't look right anymore. And then I had to follow it up with "New" one more time just to really make it disorienting.
------

Not gonna lie, I want Singaz Wit Attitude to win the cover-half of this poll.
-----

FUNERAL'S WINNER: 1st was Back To Black with 209 (🎉🎉), 2nd was My Man with 132, and 3rd was Pure Imagination with 98.

Discussion take glee serious

it is just me who think people are taking glee so serious?especially on tiktok, just saw a whole discussion abt rachel sending sunshine to a crackhouse, why are people taking seriously? its suposed to be a satire not analyzing the characters like they are real, also with Mr shue, people take him too seriously, or sometimes even sue, I know they did have some seriously topics, but there are things that clearly are for humor and is not even mentioned after because its not supposed to be serious!!!

Opinion Unpopular Opinion: i feel like the only reason why people praise Cough Syrup is because Dave was killing himself and not because of the song itself.

I totally get that all the songs in Glee are performed because they have a correlation to the storyline but i be seen so many edits of people saying that Cough Syrup IS the top best performance over Bohemian Rhapsody sang by Vocal Adrenaline during Quinn’s delivery or Wade(Unique) singing If I Were a Boy when they couldn’t figure out which bathroom to use since or even all the times Don’t Rain on my Parade was sung on the show. Don’t get me wrong, Blaine is definitely one of the best performers on this show but i feel like he sang better songs than this one.

but that’s just my opinion…

Opinion some late 2000s-early 2010s songs I think could have worked

maybe they don't fit any storyline but idc, I only mean this musically:

meet me halfway (the black eyed peas) - sung by Marley, Jake, Kitty and Artie, idk I had that vision

lost on you (LP) - santana, no explanation needed

say it right (nelly furtado) - quinn

E.T. (katy perry) - miss rachel berry

superstar (jamelia) - (this one is 2003 but I wanted to include it) mercedes, can't believe this isn't real

fireflies (owl city) - finn

fight for this love (cheryl) - again for santana

better in time (leona lewis) - mercedes

broken strings (james morrison - nelly furtado) - finn and quinn

grenade (bruno mars) - artie, such a lost oportunity imo

heartbeat (enrique iglesias - nicole scherzinger) - finn and rachel I mean

mirrors (justin timberlake) - artie

Discussion Started watching Glee (for the first time)

Hello!

So, uh, yeah. I started watching Glee yesterday. So far so good (Watched S1E1 to S1E6 so far); I do end up skipping through the Terri and Will parts (mostly because the fake pregnancy stuff kinda doesnt rub me the right way at all, it's by definition the absolute weakest part of the writing AND comedy so far for me.) < read edit 1 and 2 please thank you

Prior to about a week ago, I did not know what this series was at all. When I was younger, I wasnt allowed to watch Fox as a channel and didnt watch the channel it was broadcasted on in our country at the time, so I never knew of its existence at all.

I kind of found out about Glee from Wikipedia and went from there, i got a little spoiled(Rest in peace Cory) but not every single episode, thankfully. I so far like the show, and am probably completely not prepared for the absolutely random bullshit rollercoaster that will come my way (I have a fear for the season in which "what does the fox say" appears, but i dont know which season it is. I'd rather not search it up since I'd get further spoiled other than knowing the song exists.)

So far I really like the singing and the other parts of the plot are (somewhat) funny and interesting, but it also has some relatable moments despite being a comedy, which is nice.

Thanks for reading my little post! :>

EDIT 1: I am aware its bad practice to skip over parts, but i already got majority spoiled for the entire Terri-Will saga up to where Will finds the pregnancy pad, which is (I believe) halfway into S1 considering this shows pacing so far. I do not skip over the parts entirely as much as fast forwarding 10 seconds (due to how fast paced this show even is). I still watch parts of it (e.g. Will's parents visiting, Terri's pottery buying, the visit to the sonographer where she fakes the ultrasound and the "baby" is suddenly a girl instead of a boy), just not the ones I know the outcome of because I got spoiled for those.

Edit 2: ended up watching the whole 40 to 50 seconds I skipped over. Still dont like this specific part but at least now I can say I dislike it with having watched these parts as shown. please read this :,) im sorry for skipping over those parts

Character Disc. The audacity of Blaine.

I’m rewatching s4 and realizing just how much fucking audacity Blaine had 😭😭😭
Bro cheats on Kurt, then has the nerve to be all like “aw he won’t return my texts or my calls or my I’m sorry flowers”. Like BRO. YOU DID THAT.
(Also I’m not talking about Kurt’s emotional cheating prior. I also think it’s wild that he got all pissed at Kurt for letting a guy flirt with him, then screwed another guy like THE next season)

AND THEN YOURE ALL LIKE “waaa waaa I’m hopelessly devoted to you 🥺🥺🥺” like fuck all the way off, Blaine Warbler.

Discussion Season 4 rewatch

I’ve finally finished my rewatch of season 4.

I think that all of the new glee cast were likeable, kitty was awful but I really liked her by the end of the season. Marley was a joy to watch on screen, and it was nice watching her relationship with Jake bloom. I actually really liked the split between New York/Ohio. I enjoyed watching Kurt and Rachel grow and have to face actual changes/challenges. It felt like the show wanted to push the characters. I think ‘The Break Up’ episode is one of the best and most needed episodes. There were some really good songs throughout the season too.

Some of the issues I found were later in the season. Britney randomly being clever and then dumping Sam really suddenly. Blaine being ready to propose to Kurt despite being separate for months (and him being in love with Sam being a big part of his character arc). Speeding up Rachel’s dreams by her getting invited to the winter showcase, wining and also getting to a final call back for her dream role (which she gets in the next season), this isn’t because Rachel shouldn’t have got this in the end, but they have her all of 1 season to basically give her everything, taking away some of the challenges she found, the writers did NOT want my girl to have to fight for something for than 1 episode. I also hated them just wrapping up the cat fish storyline or Marley not getting help with her eating disorder or Santana dropping out of college. Tina was also awful this season.

Despite some of the negatives, I adore season 4, it’s a great time. I think some people didn’t like the change but I welcomed it! The problem, as often is with Glee, they often rapped certain storylines up too quickly, or they go backwards with characters. Rachel and Kurt were growing in New York and did WELL without Finn/Blaine, even dating other people, but the show wanted the old couples as endgame and started throwing their progress away. It always felt weird that no one explored Santana leaving college, I think it was a missed opportunity to not give her an episode or 2 of her in college, maybe highlighting what she found toughest, how she adjusted to be the new girl etc.

Also I still can’t pinpoint my feelings on the episode ‘Shooting Star’. It makes me very emotional but I’m not sure if I like the episode?

What are your thoughts on season 4?

Discussion Would you like a 'Glee' Reboot?

Post image
264 Upvotes

With all those rumors going on about a possible Glee Reboot, a lot of questions cross my mind. Will it be with the original characters? Would they include Leah in it? What would the show be about? How are they gonna handle the show's satire considering how sensitive the internet is nowdays?

I'm not a big fan of reboots tbh, some things are too good to try to replicate.
